This is the ONLY text that is given in the registration process, I suggest that we add some text pertaining to the proper use of search engines to find what the newbies are looking for. I'm getting frustrated with individuals who simply reply to topics with these statements "use the search engine", "search the website" , "read the sticky" or a link redirecting them to another website. They don't know that yet, so before they spam up the forums, we should direct them to read the sticky on top of the Newbies forum.
It's a win win situation.

Can't read the text?
Most ppl do not read when registering an account for a web forum. I know I hardly ever do lol. Besides, what is the difference in telling them to search before posting in the registration, and telling them to search in a thread they made? Guess my point is it doesn't matter what you do to try to stop all the reposts... they are still going to happen. Theres been a ton of ppl that have read thru the stickys, and still start a new thread just because they don't understand something. I've even made a thread hoping to help people learn to use the search engine, but that didn't help things either. You can't help people that are lazy and don't want to be helped. They want everything spoon fed to them.

The thread wouldn't be necessary if they knew to use the search engine properly, with that being said it creates useless
topics which some call ''spam'' and we can avoid new spam by letting the newbies know this and agree to it before posting.
Reread my previous point, and visit the link in my sig. I know exactly what you are trying to solve, and I'm just telling you that no matter what anyone does it's not going to stop.
I seen all that stuff ^ and it's VERY helpful but the newest members seem to not know its there or are just to lazy to search.
I'm just seeing if maybe we can emphasize it a little more prior to allowing a membership.
The problem isn't that newbies aren't being told from the start that they need to search. The problem is that everyone is lazy, and many people think that by making their own thread that they are going to get more results.

Yeah that sounds legitimate, oh well if this was to be solved, I'm sure it would have been done already : )

this is the one and only problem
not much is gonna change it either
Someone needs to make me a new sig!
Do what other sites do....restrict new members to the n00b forum for their first 15 posts or so. They'd still have full access to read threads in other areas, but could not start repetitive threads or needlessly bump old posts.

Yes, but so many people get away with breaking the rules that it hardly matters that the rules are even there.

#1 it's not just the newbies who are too lazy to search most of the time and #2 this has been a problem for a very long time.
