help needed-96 sunfire

I own a towing company, and a few months back I was asked to pick up this abandoned car. It had been sitting on the owners property for 2 or 3 year up to that point. The window had been smashed out and the interior was completely ruined. Snow and rain for a few years doesnt do good for that. We applied for title, and just recieved. Last night we made the decision to strip it out and build a racecar. I've researched the Passlock 1 security system this car has and learned alot, all but either bypassing or completely getting rid of the system. We have a screw driver to turn the car over and it starts for 2 or 3 seconds and dies and the theft system light turns on. IT's quite fustrating. i would like to have the car ready if this is at all possible. If we have to we can make it a push button start. Ive contacted many people in my area, but i live in maine and know one has a clue. Well thanks fer the time guys.

1. Start the car and let it die. The theftlock light will be on, DO NOT TURN THE KEY OFF, OR OPEN ANY DOORS, OR TURN ON ANY ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. Just fold your hands under your arms and wait 10-15 minutes...
2. After the car stalls, the theftlock light will blink. wait until it stops blinking.
3. Wait 1 minute after it stops blinking.
4. Turn the key to off, wait 10 seconds, then start the car again.
You may have to do this 3 times for it to work correctly.

Also make sure that the airbag system box under the passanger seat is connected to the floor. I have a problem were that was not connected properly and the car would run for like 2-3 seconds then cut off.

Sounds to me like the PCM is looking for a SKEEM signal. Your best bet is to try replacing the PCM with a non-Paslock encoded PCM. If the problem persits them you maybe dealing with a third party security system. Check the wiring harness of any signs of a soldering.

They don't exist. The car is looking for the resistance value in the key, which doesn't exist. A new tumbler and key will solve your problems.

Since you can start it with a screwdriver, you can just go get a blank key from GM or even Walmart, stick that in the ignition, and do the relearn. No need for a new tumbler and key system.
