i just watched a thing on hbo for like 5 minutes and i couldnt stand u watch it anymore or i was goin to cry ( yeah i said it eat me)

anyone who brings their dog in too be put to sleep has no heart.

i just saw a beautifull golden retriever get put to sleep and its was one of the mostly heart wrenching things ive ever seen. u just see the extreme fear in his face and then its like the life drained out of him in 5 seconds it was.... idk i cant even describe it.

putting healthy dogs to sleep is horrible im completely aganist it.

Putting healthy dogs to sleep is horrible, I'm sure there'd be someone out there that could have taken them in and given them a good home... but ones that are suffering greatly, I think it's a good thing. I know I wouldn't want to be in constant pain and suffering, slowly dieing... but euthanizing people is illegal.

I've had to put 3 dogs to sleep when they were old, and in a lot of pain.

No, it's never easy, and it never gets easier.

I don't like the idea of putting down animals that are healthy but unwanted, but then again, asking people to be responsible and spay or neuter their pets is like pulling teeth. I had 3 dogs at one point, and 2 of them were rescued from euthenasia by a group that I knew about. They both got fixed (my own was already fixed) and things were great.

I still have my dog's ashes.

Saying the dogs will get lazy if you get them fixed is stupid. I personally think most people should get "fixed," but that's a little too close to eugenics I'm told...

Killing unwanted pets that were born because the owner was irresponsible is awful.

It's awful. However, most animal shelters can't afford to keep the animal on indefinitely. If they didn't practice euthanasia, they wouldn't be able to take any animals in and give them a second chance. It's a sad thing to see an animal be put down. It's infinitely more sad to see the same animal spends weeks/months/years, wandering the streets, woods, and roads searching for scraps of food. They are covered in mange and have diseases, alot of them extremely painful.

People, in general, are stupid, cruel, and heartless. Would all of you with hearts rather see an animals life end by going to sleep? Or do you favor the abandoned on the side of the road method? Alot of times those are your only two options due to peoples lack of obligation.

My wife and I had to recently put our Golden down. It was the hardest most aweful
decision I have ever had to make in my life. She was a beautiful pure breed and just
as sweet as any dog you would ever want to meet. She however had a tumor in her abdomin that the vets never caught. And three weeks after her 11th birthday it ruptured.
We rushed her to the vets where they did blood work, X-rays, cat scans and every test
they could do at the local level. When the results came back it was bad, the tumor had
ruptured and she had been bleeding internaly for almost a day. She was going to need a complete blood transfusion emergency surgury a dog cardiologist and possibly a dog pace maker. Even then tho they said her chances were not good because of her age. On may 10th at 5:30 pm I lost my best friend I ever had. It still hurts to even type this. Putting her down because she was in pain and slowly dieing made sence to my wife and I. But I can't see the need to put down a healty dog or cat whatever the reason.

Anyone how would do this to any animal should be put down themselves.

i'm sorry for your aunts loss. I don't care what anyone says a dog is a member of the family and loseing one is almost as bad as loseing a "real" family member. Angel
was almost like another daughter to us. We still get teary eyed looking at her pictures.

My family had one of our dogs put to sleep about a month ago. When it bites 4 people of its own family, you'd do the same thing. If it was to get loose and attack a random person imagine the consequence of that. It was something neither me nor my family were willing to let happen. Sometimes its the only thing to do. We were the second owners of the dog because the previous owner abused it (probably why it was so violent).

What really ticks me off is people who just dump dogs in parks and on the side of the road. I was on a Jeep run up a pretty remote mountain in a national forest, at the summit some guys who were already there, told everyone to stay in their jeeps, apparently somebody had dumped a doberman up there and it was hungry and mad, it charged at anyone who came near it, we threw it some food and left some water, there was no way any of us could have fit it in our jeeps even if it was calmed down. We called animal control and the rangers but we never found out what happened. Its scary to think of what could have happened if a family w/ kids had been up there.

Zach its a shame you guys had to do that but you really had no choice. If it had gotten
a hold of a baby what would you would have happened.

Its still sad tho.

Thanks Borsty this thread has been a regular little ray of sunshine.
