Looks like a decent start.

Please tell me if you are going through all the work to weld in patch panels, etc..you are going to remove stuff like the door moldings, weather stripping, etc before paint, right?

keep up the progress!

Letting the painted parts cure out of harms way in the basement.. I have a very understanding family lol

2 hours of masking later I realized it would have taken far less time to have just taken out the door windows. Next time, haha.

All masked and ready to go.

Looks good but, it makes me sad to see that you're not taking the door trim off.

LOVE that color and the quality looks very well done. Can't wait to see it finished. Really looks beautiful so far. Nice work!

Only thing I'm not liking, as was mentioned, the door moldings being left on.

Haha, oh don't worry, that door trim was only on during some block sanding to keep rain and bondo sludge out. It was had the typical corrosion they all get and has long since been thrown out. Its hard to see in the garage pics but all the trim and weatherstripping that could be taken off was taken off.

They're talking about the trim on the outside running down the side of the car. you should take it off to paint either way, since you're being so thorough with everything else.

Im not a usually a fan of these home paint jobs, but this does not look to bad so far. Il judge when its finished and we get some daylight pics.

Riiight, nevermind, I see what you're saying. Must be all the clearcoat fumes getting to me lol. I took the side door trim off just to straighten it out, but I put it back on after sealing it with some epoxy primer and black. My reason for this was only so the trim would take the focus off the "almost but not quite straight" door skin. Everyone including the girlfriend has been giving me a hard time about this, haha. I respect your opinion though. I painted an 2000 z24 last summer in red that I took the trim off of. It looked pretty clean at first glance, but the bodywork wasn't quite straight enough so it always anoyed me when I looked at it. I figured I'd try leaving it on this time for a change. It I'm able to straighten it out more in the future I may do away with them. I'll post a pic or two of that one when I get the chance.
Anyhow, here are the pics of the moment I'd been anticipating since I started this project in june...

I haven't finished putting it all back together yet as its long bloody process. I gutted the interior so I could powerwash the carpet, fix some wiring problems, and lay some sound deadening.
