hey everyone,
I have a 2004 cavy (i suppose that doesn't matter here) and I was thinking about taking off the cavalier logo on the trunk. Before I go ripping off the letters I was wondering if it's painted underneath and if so, isnt it going to be much darker where the letters used to be? Won't it just say "cavalier" in darker paint than what is on my car? (due to fade)
any help would be appreciated.
thanks

oh and for the record. my car has seen 2 years of garage life. the rest it's been exposed to the elements every day and night. and still no fade underneath, none that was'nt visible without a microscope anyway.

Same here, and mine is an 04, always stored outside in a Harsh Canadian climate. (-40 degrees Celsius (-40 F) in the winter, and +35 Celsius (+90F) in the summer)
I found the best way to take it off was to use a 1/4" slotted (flat) head screwdriver, wrap the tip in electrical tape, and slowly pry the edges of the mouldings until you can grab it with your fingers.
General adhesive label remover, or even your standard "Goof Off" and knock-off brands will clean up the adhesive that is left on your car.
If you want to SAVE the Cavalier logo, it is difficult, as the letters in the word "CAVALIER" are connected by very thin peices.
Just grab about 2ft of 10lb fishing line and saw behind the emblem, works super easy, then rub the glue off by hand or with adhesive remover.
i took the badge off today. It looks pretty good. There was no noticeable fade between what was under the badge and the surrounding area. I just used flat-head screwdriver and wrapped it in electrical tape like suggested. To clean it up i decided to use gasoline because it was the most readily available. Thanks for the help guys.
