My car doesn't have a remote trunk release, either, so my options are now to remove the seat base for my son's car seat and pull down the back seat to get in the trunk, or just not use it.
The lock turns when I stick my key in there, but it turns much farther than it used to, and the trunk doesn't open.
Any idea what's broken, and how to fix it?
thanks!

im guessing this is for you 99 sunfire? if so just pull down the back seat. crawl into the trunk if you can and look for the cord going to the lock cylinder, then just pull it. while your trunk is open inspect your locking system. something it most likely just lose.
I had this happen on my old cav. It was the plastic assembly on the backside of the key mechanism. It breaks over time and I ordered a new one from the stealership it was $32 if iirc.
