I just installed the Easystreet air ride kit and am having trouble tucking my front wheels. i have 43mm offset Ikon GT6's and they lack between 3/4" to 1" from clearing the front fenders. i have read that 43mm and 45 mm wheels will tuck but mine hit with about 2" left in my bags total travel. my stock 15" steelies wont even clear. would flaring my stock steel fenders be better than buying fiberglass fenders and molding flares to them after trimming the wheel opening? any input is appreciated.
look into getting toyota cavalier fenders. I'm not on air ride but if you really do need flaired front fenders this is one way to do it. Also look up the fenders in the photos n media forum and in the exterior forum
# '00 Toyota fenders
# L fender: 22610683
# R fender: 22610682
im assuming that those will fit a 04 fire? ive read that the front fenders are interchangable among all jbody's 95 and up? i hope those trd's clear. does anyone have specs on the width of those fenders? thanks a bunch
Thats weird. I have 15" steelies on my cav and they tuck.
What size tires are on your steelies and rims? I dont think anyone has had to flare their fender, they just had to roll the inner lip.
The steelies are the stock 15x6.5 (i believe thats the size. Rolling the fenders may get the stockers to tuck, but it will be close. my 17" Ikons wont even come close though. i am hoping toyota fenders will clear. if not i will have to buy glass fenders and modify them.
After calling the dealership and receiving no help for a car that does not exist, i got a price for 97-02 fenders but im not sure that those are the ones i need. the part # is the same but i am afraid of ordering the wrong parts. is this the same part i need?
Roll the damn things. Don't piss away money for something you can do yourself.
Rolling the lip isnt going to help as the wheels stick out too far. could i have the stock fenders flared to gain the clearance i need and if so how difficult would that be to do myself? the rear tucks fine and looks great but the front stops when it hits the tire and leaves the car ar a significant rake.
The Toyota fenders won't work unless you swap to a complete Cavalier front end. I'd try rolling and flaring your stock fenders. I'm still confused as to why you're rubbing on stock steelies.. You should be able to tuck those easily. What is the width on the 17s?
17x7 43mm offset. if i roll the fender ill tuck the steelies but not by much, maybe only a mm or two. the Ikons are a completely different story. i love my sunfire front so the conversion is out of the question. what would be the easiet way of flaring my stock fenders?
I so didn't check your profile and no they wont work with the sunfire....
You should be able to tuck those easily. I'm looking out the window right now at a Cavalier tucking 19x7.5s with no trouble whatsoever. Find a shop with a fender roller to do it for you or use a baseball bat. There are plenty of how to's on the net.
if the steelies(assuming they are off a J) don't tuck, you're doing something wrong. Steelies should tuck very easily.
and even your 17's should based on those measurements.
pics?

Baseball bat? thats what i am thinking to gain some clearance. i wanna tuck the front so bad. i have drag blocks on order as right now i am dragging the exhaust in the center rather than the body or rockers. unfortunately i cant drop the front for fear of ruining a perfectly good set of tires.
ill post some pics when i get home from work. i think part of the porblem might be the thickness of the the hub on my slotted rotors. i noticed that the steelies stuck out a litle further than before after installing the rotors but i didnt think it would be this bad.

I have the factory 195s on my steelies.
What brand rotors do you have?
Factory 195's with aerospeed rotors. i dont know if that could be causing my clearance issues or not. ive seen plenty of cavs and fires laid out on larger wheels than what i have and cant figure out why mine is hitting. i am not convinced that i could clear a 45mm or 48mm offset wheel with my current setup.
I have 17x7 with 42mm offset, and they tuck with a 205/40/17, and they tucked with a 215/45/17...your doin something weird bro....even my Z wheels and steelies tucked, and that was BEFORE I cut the fender up, all cutting it did for me was allow me to be able to turn while laid out.
I have aftermarket rotors, and 20" wheels and all tucks just fine. Now if my car wouldn't sit ON the tire I would be in good shape. If I had to do anything I would roll/remove the lip in the inner of the fender to give me more clearance but everything is just fine. I can't wait to see the pictures, your lugs ARE tight right?
I know that doesn't help you but air ride and no adjustment to the fenders had to be made. Something crazy is going on with your car.

I'm glad nothing sits on my tires...rolling at 0 psi in the front FTW!
Yeah it sucks sitting on the tires but I will be putting some drag blocks to allow the front to roll while dragging. I just need to get some pictures of where to set them up at under the front. I recall but want to be sure, need a good picture.
