sunfire projector headlamps???
Saturday, August 09, 2008 8:07 AM
Just looking for an answer to why know one besides izntrbl makes aftermarket headlamps for the sunfire...
As you all know you can go on e-bay and pick up a nice set of projector style headlamps in black, chrome etc for the cavy for like $200, and almost every other car out there, even my buddys grandprix they have new headlamps on e-bay for his car for $200 and something and they are sweet; so what is so different about the sunfires headlamps; too hrad to make them for these companys, or are they just would not be a good seller or what?
I know i would pay $200+ no problem, wish i had a cavy for the raeson i could have a nice set of headlamps.
Anyone know of anyone making sunfire prjector headlamps for a reasonable price?
Thanks

I have a friend of mine whom is starting do to this for many Focus owners and is willing to do it on others cars too. He does good work and in a fairly timely manner. I can get pictures of the Only thing that slows him down is College.

I am in talks with him about making some for my 03 Sunfire.

I can put you in touch with him if you wish, or you can wait and see if he and I get anything done.

i m in the middle of producing the thermoplastic forming machine .... but something that u dont realize is that THE PRODUCTS PRICES ALONE are as follows

30 -50 FOR OLD LAMPS
80-150 FOR PROJECTORS
150 FOR HID KIT
80 FOR CCFL ANGEL EYES
40 FOR LED'S .........

THATS ALMOST 500 BUCKS RIGHT THERE
not including the clear lenses ... and the shroud
so to assume that you can pick these up for 200 bucks ... would be horseshoe luck
once and a while u can find a set that a j-body guy is getting rid of .... but thats next to nill

be realistic with your prices ..... and realize that there is a WORLD of options when it comes to these ...
red white blue yellow pink greet ccfl 's and led's can be bought ..... carbonfiber inlay for the shroud can be done as well .... these little things all add up !

True ^^^^ i know it would not be cheap; it just burns me that you can get a set for otrher cars very cheap; like the ones they have on e-bay for the cavy etc... and they all have the above mentioned products......

I would be happy with a set of clear covers......

Be aware that just attaching clear covers in place of the original lens will really screw up your light output if you dont go all the way and retro-fit projectors

Meckster.... aka Goose wrote:Be aware that just attaching clear covers in place of the original lens will really screw up your light output if you dont go all the way and retro-fit projectors

I was thinking the same thing. GM made those lights with non clear covers for a reason.....

tho there is a couple of guys on here that have done that ..... wasnt many complaints ether .... but to all there own right ?

as soon as u replace the lens you void the dot .... so technically you shoudlnt be driving with them anyways ..... now ask if anyone has been bothered by cops that have them ?
none that i kno .....

just something to think about b 4 modding your lamps ...

I'm going to talk to a guy this weekend about making some projector headlights for my 03 Sunfire. He made his own for a Focus and his made some for other Focus drivers. Its his side job while going to school and he wants some more business. If all goes well with mine he said he would be willing to do more for Sunfires and Cavaliers. I will try to keep everyone updated.

Heres a true run down of cost for items... Fixing and adding to Doyle's

lamps total brand new are 100+( This is why I prefer people shipping me them instead)
projectors range from 70 if your lucky to 240+. Thats just for FX35's Bi-Xenon
CCFL's range from 50-90
LED's- 40
Polystyrene and Acrylic total 60
Bezel's aka the Chrome pieces to make the projector looks fancy; range from 5-70
The shrouds are a bitch to make even with a vacuform/thermoformer. I have ran through more styrene than I would've liked. The clear lenses are some-what easy if you have a mold to go by.

Projectors are pretty costly to make, hence why people charge alot for them. And with more demand the cost of the projectors themselves goes up. This time last year I was lucky to find FX35's for 40 you check today and they are up there.

Im working on 3 sets of Cavy 00-02 projectors right now, and one set of 00-02 1 piece projectors(like the 95-99). I'll see if I can get a set of sunfire ones so I can retro them and make a few molds for the lenses.

Total price I was looking at was 625 for the regular ones and 900 for the one piece, without the HID kit. If I'm shipped the headlights and projectors I could do it for 300 for the regular and 600 for the one pieces. I can have pictures up tonight of the 00 headlights if you want. 1-piece headlights wont be seen till they are 100% done. All the prices include shipping and what not.

If you want to purchase clear lenses there is a company that makes them. They also make projectors but they are very pricey. Here's a link. http://www.izntrbl.com/product_info.php/pName/9502-izn-trbl-inc-sunfire-clear-headlight-lenses-2/cName/pontiac-sunfire

Bubba: If you ever feel liking having some more business, let me know! I really want projectors for my sunfire but no one makes them, and being a college student doesn't help me out much time wise, and am willing to pay for this of course.

DigitalN.- Im also in college, but I dont start till Sept 3. I plan on doing these around the days Im not in school or cramming for test and what not. So my guess is waiting time will be about a month to a month in a half at most, because of school. Im going to see if anyone in the club Im in has a set of 95-02 sunfire headlights they are willing to part with so I can make mold's.

Also the sunfire headlights will be just $10 more since it requires clear lenses if thats ok with you.

Eternal- Thank you, that set will be in the classifieds soon.

i just got lenses for the 95-02 sunfire for 50 bucks and a 21/2 hour drive, from someone who hasn't owned a sunfire in 3 years they were brand new in plastic ......i looked for a year and a half, so you guys have fun trying to find them, because for me it was a b&#^$...i did find some finished ones but thet were put together so bad, and the caulking job was a joke, so i decided to make my own....i will post pics in a couple weeks when there finished....and i'm buying aftermarket focus lights and detroying them to mold into mine...

also if anyone has a 2 bulb setup on a 95-02 sunfire could you post pics so i could get some ideas as to placement, looks? thanks.
