Hello, This is my first official post....Im thinking about buying some APC Clear tail lights (I know illegal or whatever) Even though the place im getting them from claims that they are street legal with red bulbs (Im getting bright LED's) since i assume they are illegal because they do not come with a red reflector....could i just go to walmart and buy some red reflective tape and place it were (the reflective part is)? I already have clear front and corner lights on the front side.. i would like the same affect to be on the back...I guess i really like leds....
check laws for your state but im pretty sure thats ok. while it will look tacky it should be fine.
Yeah, I thought it may look alittle..but i dont know..since its a sunfire i would already have the inner reflector...im thinking if the tape is thin enough i doubt it would be that noticable..but red leds look so tempting
IMHO i wouldnt run clear outers and the inner light bar from a sunfire sedan. they'll clash
but like ^^^ said, check your local laws to see if thatll work.

Yes! thats what im talking about...I guess the Inner pontiac light would clash..but i do not like the shaved look...I like what "Droopy" did....
Did you cover your lens or paint over it? My plan is to keep my inner bezel and VHT it so it looks solid black during the day and still show at night.
Does anyone else have any suggestions? i do not want to shave the inner.

just painted over.....well actually when i received them from rksport the tails come with solid inners...theyre painted....love em!

I have seen some nice colormatched rears on the fires. that looks nicer that tinted imo.
I had "planned" to use the clear outter taillights as well. When I was driving though, I had little red plastic reflectors with magnets on the back. I just stuck them to the trunk while driving, keeping things legal, and "planned" to remove them when going to shows.
I say "planned", because the car never made it to shows, lol.

This is correct - it is part of Federal Motor Vehnicle Standard 103. There are no state exceptions to it. If you go "clear," cops may or may catch it (depends on how "mod diligent" they are in your jurisdiction) but most shops will make an issue it at inspection time.
I personally think they look sweet, ive been through altezza, tried to make my own, then finally ended up with the clear ones. let me know what u think bro.

Correct. It's a federal law: there must be a minimum area reflector on each side of the car, both front and rear. The rear must be red, and the front must be amber. Some clear corner lenses come with a 1" x 1" square amber reflector with double sided tape on them. This is so they can call them street legal, because you're "supposed to" put the reflector on the fender or bumper to make up for the lack of amber in the lens. It's the same on the rear. You will notice that all altezza style tails have a small red reflector in them, and cars that come with factory clear tails have a small red reflector elsewhere on the rear, usually set into the bumper on each side of the vehicle.
Dude that looks great...i love the black...more reason for me to get them...I think im going to do it..im not sure what to do with my stock bezel tho..im going to do what you did once i get my rk sport center bezel. but for now i dont know what im going to do until then.
