Get all the parts you need in a pile, and drive the car into it.
They will find their way into the correct places.
Check the classifieds and your regional forum regularly and you'll probably find a good buy on one. I personally like the Wings West big mouth kit for the 00-02 models but that's just my personal taste(and apparently a lot of others too). Just be sure to buy because you like it, not because you can afford it, you're better off waiting a while and saving than getting a kit that you're not 100% on.
I had something really funny to put here but it was too long.
listen to both posts above. with those and a bit of patience you can get a good kit for cheap. I ended up getting my IF Front, Type J Sides, IF Rear for $85 and a 6 pack of Dew using the above mentioned methods along with a good set of patience.

SO EVERYTHING!
cheap and modding dont go together. getting an ebay kit runs the risk of the fiberglass being very thin in area and with it being thin it warps easier so the chance of it not fitting is pretty good. urethane like wings west obviously cost more (nearly double what a glass kit cost). after you buy the kit you still have to have it painted which is going to cost you close to 600 bucks if not a tad more for a decent paint job on it. then if you have a @!#$ty kit your probably not going to be able to put it on yourself then you have to have the shop do it and you'll spend even more money then you wanted to because you wanted to go cheap on a kit

If your going to buy a body kit by all means put the area you live in, into the equation. That right there tells you how much your going to spend on your kit and whether you can pass with just fiberglass or youll need urethane. Person I had both, fiberglass is cheaper but is more work to put on, and urethane is a lil bit more money but is stronger and goes on like a glove.

also take into consideration that glass breaks either than urethane but glass kits are much easier and cheaper to fix then a urethane kit.
