I'm installing aftermarket driving lamps tomorrow, and I'm going to wire them into my high beams. Inside the column, what colour is the High beam wire that I can run my relay to?
nevermind... I forgot that they are all the same.
On the multifunction switch, there should be a 6 pin connector (#6 in the following pic) w/ the following color wires:
BLK/WHT
PNK
DK BLU
ORN
BLK
BRN
you want the pink one.
I wired and installing everything as it was directed. The driving lamps stay on ALL the time, other than when my high beams are on, I'm thinking I have the relay wired backwards? KARDAIN, the intructions that came with the relay said that the switched power terminal and the power output (to the lamps) were opposite of the diagram you posted in my other thread, which is correct?
I know for a fact that 87/87a are the outputs (same as the diagram). 87 is on when relay energized, 87a is on when relay off.
the pole opposite the pin 87 is the input, which is pin 30
85 is your trigger wire (whatever power source you want to have turned on)
86 is ground.
It doesn't matter if its a Bosch relay or some other brand... its an industry standard as long as it has those #'s on it.
I've used that diagram I don't know how many times and its worked flawlessly.
the only thing I can think of is that the pink wire may be one that is hot at all times, in which case, you will need to run a fused wire from the high beam bulb ground to your relay. Place the fuse as close to the high bulb as possible.
I said @!#$ it and wired it to a switch after. Kardain, where is the relay for disabling the DRL's. I heard the easiest way is to unhook a wire from the relay, and use a jumper wire from pin30 to pin 87a. Where is the relay located in the car? I was told it was inside the fusebox in the side of the dash but there are no relays there, just fuses. Also, which wire to I remove from the relay to disable the DRL's?
This isn't what I'm talking about. there is a much simpler way to do the DRL disable on the earlier model sunfires. You just find the relay unplug 2 or 3 of the wires, and use a jumper wire between 2 of the relay pins.
