okay so i have an 03 cavalier, 2 door which i just recently purchased a bodykit for. its an evo front and rear and BC2 side skirts.
i have yet to find a good how to: for installing a body kit (with pictures preferably) and i would like to get a good idea of the process. i was hoping some of you could help me out. i plan on testfitting it myself, then sending it out to paint and when its done reinstalling it. my painter said he would charge me much less to only prep/paint if i do the install myself so im hoping someone can help me out.
thanks alot.
Paul.
There's not a whole lot to it except finding the bolts on the bumpers and deciding how to hold the top of the side skirt down(I used screws but some people use contact cement, etc.). If you're trying to decide whether to do it yourself or not, do it yourself, it's not hard. The only other thing is two people makes it go alot quicker and easier. If you run into any problems just post it here
thanks alot... would i be drilling new holes for the sideskirts... to hold them down underneath and in the wheel wells or would i be using some sort of pre existing holes. also, if i plan on installing it to get it to fit, then getting it painted, should i hold off on contact cement or w.e so that i can take it off to get painted or do they paint them when they are on the car (im not getting the whole car painted just the kit)... also any pics are greatly appreciated.
Usually the kit gets painted seperately so you don't lose your car for a few days and it'd be pain to paint side skirts already installed on a car. Usually people drill two holes in the front and two on the back in the wheelwells. As for pics, I'd just look at member's cardomain pages, there's usually plenty of up-close pics that help. Like I said, the bumpers should just bolt up, it's just the side skirts that give you a bit of a headache.
There are no predrilled holes in the inner fender walls that you can use your just gonna have to take it slow and drill your own ones through the kit and into the lip of the fender walls, and depending how bad your paint is faded the exact color of your car may not match from the kit to the car that is if you are painting it the same color, typically its alot easier to paint the kit off the car that way you dont have the hassle of taken it off and on, just get it installed once so you know where the screws are and what holes need to be drilled before it gets painted that way its just a direct bolt on then.
