Ok, here is the deal.
Some of you may have seen my post in photos & media about my car getting painted and finished up.....
now the issue is, the rear end is slightly blah. Now im torn between no spoiler, or an 00-02 LS spoiler. I am keeping it a stockish or "clean" look as it would be called by many. So those are my only 2 options, and am not a big fan of any spoiler at all honestly.
SOOOOO... i wanna do something with the tails. Im not buying some cheapy looking altezzas, black, chrome, fake carbon, whatever. It will not happen. Cant realy afford toyos, and when i can afford them, i probably wont be able to find a set. Does anyone know of anything else that will help keep the clean smooth stockish look, but spruce up the tails a bit? Im kinda not digging the stockers for some reason.

what about covers to go over the stock ones or even painting the stock ones with the color of your car and leaving just the area where the light shines through
I know Josh (Izn Trbl) had that post about doing led taillights. That might be something a little different but you would really notice it unless of course your braking.
you could get toyo tails for a decent price possibly. i got two sets (one missing the drivers outer and one with a damaged drivers outer) together for $120 shipped. I sold the set with the damaged lenses for around $100. the other set I'm trying to sell the passenger outer seperate. I'm using the toyo inners and I'm gonna custom tint some clear APC outers (which i picked up for $15 shipped). In the end I'll probably have spent $20 total in expenses for it all.

SO EVERYTHING!
Heres what I come up with as coloring options: nightshade, tint, or complete red out (using tint or spray). You could always swap out for different year tails too and try them for cheap. I am lookin at your car right now, and I kind of like the red out idea. I have seen it done on acuras/hondas usuallly and it looks good. I can do some chops for you if you want.
chop away brother. any ideas are apreciated.
again though, i want to stress that i am keeping this car as clean and stock looking as i can. i dont mean "how they were from the factory" stock, what i mean is, that its possibly that it COULD have come from the factory looking this way, so painting the tails red doesnt realy appeal to me. thanks guys for all the info. I was considering doing the black border like the toyos have in the mean time while saving for toyos. 00-02 or 95-99 toyos work for my taste, but both are too expensive for me right now

I don't mean paint the tails red. Its more of a tint to cover the white with red. Like this; look at the amber turn lens...
Before...
After...
And on your car with the white tinted red... (not the best chop but hey)
I think it looks really good on your car. I could see them coming from the factory like that.
atk wins at life this time! lol
thanks man, that is one thing i forgot to consider, i have seen that done on the older style civics and love it. ill take that into heavy consideration, might be the subtle stock looking mod the tails need

Haha, thanks. I love that look, and it makes your cars back end look so much cleaner and smoother. This way you look at the back without focusing so much on the white that you see in the tails. And its cheap and easy. So the red out is the way to go I say. There are some good DIYs on some of the acura/honda forums if you search around for them.
just gimme a product name number or link and ill be set lol

Lemme see here....
Here is a good
DIY looks like.
Here is a site where you can buy
red tint film
And an ebay site where you can but
red tint film
I have never bought from these sites or done this myself, I just have seen it done, but I might buy some yellow film from decalfx to do my fog lights.
after seeing the stockers with the border. id do that.. looks great. maybe even a coat of nightshades over the whole thing.
im gunna play with ms paint (till i get photoshop again somehow), and see what I can come up with with doing a black border on the 00+ lights and reding out the reverse lights so they blend in... i realy like both looks honestly

so i think i am going to do a little outline (probably with nightshade tint so its still semitransparent, not straight black), and do the red film to blend in the reverse lights to clean things up.... this is a very rough ms paint job:
i think i might do this while the car is in the shop for the handles and eyelids.
