HID P&P Kit Question
Monday, April 23, 2007 4:57 AM
Hey guys, just a quick simple question I am hoping someone can help with. I am sorry if this has been asked somewhere before.

So basically what I am looking to do is, I had a P&P HID kit I purchased last year, and finally am going to make use of it with projector headlights I just bought.

The question I have is, I fully disabled the DRL with the instructions here on the site, and that worked like a charm.

Then I connected the P&P HID kit to test it out. Works perfect. But the one question I have is when its all connected, and I turn the headlights on, it runs off the highbeams I assume because the highbeam light is on inside the car.

Is this the case no matter what ? Or is my P&P kit wired up wrong?

Also, if this is how it should be, off high beam voltage, will this kill anything (fuses, wiring, lights, etc.) with this kind of power being used.

I hope everything stays fine so I don't need to do any more mods.

If someone who knows a little could help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

sounds as if you have your (+) highbeam and (+) lowbeam wires switched. try this.... turn on your lights and flip your hi/lo beam lever. if your lights turn off as well as your higbeam indicator on your dash, then your (+) wire is on the wrong side of the ground wire inside your plug that plugs into your stock harness. here is a picture to help you out:

dont mind the color of the wires. everyone's different.

if you have your wires in the plug like this, take out the (+) wire/pin, and put it into the other side of the ground. then try it out.

as for your wiring, you may want to be safe and purchase an HID wire harness. it comes with a fuse, relay, heavier wire, and plugs right in. i have them listed here:

or you can make your own.

good luck buddy, and let me know if you have any other questions.

What would happen if I leave the set up running as it is, any problems or anything, or I should be ok in the long run?

Yea I have a feeling my wires are switched, hope its easy to fix.

As far as highbeam being on or off, I dont think it makes a difference to the HID light or brightness as its a single bulb, no highbeam, am I correct?

Thanks for your help!

leaving the setup as you have it now will continue to perform as it does now. however, your wires MAY have a problem keeping the higher amount of current going though them to keep the ballasts running properly. there have been stories of wires melting and such. but others have not had a problem at all. it's totally up to you as to what route you take.

yes sir, should be easy. just take some sort of long skinny item and push into the pin to help pull the wire out and placing it into the correct area. but, before placing into the other side of the ground, plug it into the harness first and see what difference it makes.

no, it does not make a difference if you have them as is or switched. just that it will always look like you have your highbeams on the way it is now. also, if you have foglights, then you will never be able to have them on along with your lights at the same time.

good luck buddy!

Mine just plugged into low beam wire harness, no problems with highbeams coming on at all...one other thing, because our headlights are constant switched positive and ground out to turn on, make sure ballsts don't touch frame of metal or they could ground out and turn on hid's when car is turned off....I've had other problems with mine such as when I turn them on, they cut out, I have to turn headlight switch on and off and on agian quickly to keep them on.

Don't buy from MANTAPART!!

Everything is running fine for me, except that its running on highbeam, which I think is no big deal.

Only issue I have is, say I stop to fill gas, and leave the headlights on and turn off the car, after I fill, and go to start the car again with the HID's/lighting system already on, somehow the HID's go out, so I have to turn the full switch off and back on.

So I guess anytime I stop over for something quick, always turn off the headlights.

Lets see how long this system lasts, hope it keeps working, the HID's lights look so much better!!!!
