Now when I said Emergency brake you thought I meant the emergency brake. Nope. I thought of all the times it was dark out and i flew past a cop only to get chased down and ticketed, so then came the idea........ Put a toggle to the brake pedal switch, fly past a cop, turn off the lights and flip the switch...... he can't see you anymore...even when you brake. Brilliant...... I'll let you know how it works out the next time I speed past a cop.
Ya that makes loads of sense...
1. He'll then just pull you over for not having working lights/not turning them on.
2. You get in a wreck and an insurance company looks at your car and sees a switch wired to the lights you can kiss any insurance money goodbye.

I got to admit, I'm the first in line when it comes to gettin over on the cops but i don't think this is a smart idea. The cop might not be able to see you at NIGHT but how do you plan to see and not crash into anything. I have 5% tint on my windows and when they are all the way up and not to mention it is dark outside it is almost impossible for me to see. But hey " To each his own".

what would be more "intellegent" would be to put a switch on so that when its active, all taillight function is lost, but headlights stay on, or everyting goes off except a set of foglights or one headlight or something. but even that is a dumb idea, and WHEN you get caught, your only digging a hole deeper, and no judge will have mercy on you
best bet is to not be stupid and get the cops after you in the first place

I had to run away from another vehicle before, not from the cops, its a long story.
But what I did was turn off all of my lights, pull the e-brake one click (turns off the DRLs) and then a used the e-brake as brakes, just had to be gentle so I didn't spin.
Then I quickly pulled into a shrouded area and waited. It works well.

I can say first hand that it doesn't work. you'd have to also do something with the rear reflectors and license plate.
even at night with no lights on they will still be able to see you. how about not speeding?
If there is one thing I've learned from the TV police chase programs, it's that people trying to elude the cops at night are probably going to blow it by continuing to use their blinkers out of habit.

Wow............ You probably feel really funny saying something like that. I'm not saying I am out running the cops, I'm saying you pass one and see him start to pull out while your down the road a bit and you want to be able to ditch off on to a side road without him seeing you.... then this will work. I'm not saying if he is right behind me I'm gonna run from him. They watch for your brake lights when they turn around or start to pull out, I would know my uncle and my boss are both cops.

Somehow I picture the worst-case scenario. The cop pulls out and starts hauling ass to catch you. You slam on your binders and veer car toward the nearest dark side-road, and end up with a Crown-vic shaped impression T-boned into your rear quarter.

Oh ya, i did this to my field car, not my daily driver, it was about 5% street legal to begin with.
