filler relocated
Tuesday, January 23, 2007 3:06 PM
I know COGcaviZ24 did this on his car, just thought I'd share pics of mine. Just a few things; I had to go with the 1" inside diameter fuel hose, which was not easy to find, lol. I reccomend if any one is gonna attempt this on their 03+ cavi/sunfire, get 1 1/8" fuel hose. That 1" was a pain to fit over the stock line. ANY comments are welcome. heres the pics:

instead of cutting part of the cap, i just beat this area down with a hammer.

drilled the hole just a lil to big. lol, 2 1/2 hole. easy fix. rubber gromet.

no more need for this.

Napa carries gas filler hose. they can get it in various sizes and lengths and can sell it by the half foot also.

i've tried napa, autozone, oreillys, advance, and a couple other locals stores and none of them had 1". the biggest any of them had was either 3/4 or 7/8. I got the 1" from a deisel shop. hey joey, if at all possible, i'd get 1 1/8" hose cause that 1" was a pain in the arse to get over the stock fuel line.

i used about 5" out of 1' its no problem for me to send it to you. the only thing is though, i had to dremel the hose from 1" inside to about 1 1/8" inside. lol. its a tight ass fit. just let me know if you want it.

wut about droppin gasoline into ur trunk area? no matter wut pump i use wen i pull it out it still drips gasolinie. isnt it gonna drip inside that area around the trunk?

Re: filler relocated

I've already had to fill up twice. theres no issue with gas dripping every where. when i'm done filling up, i pull out slowly. lol. just tap the end of the nozzle against the gas filler and the excess will just fall off in the filler.

I just saw Andy's (COGcaviZ24) fuel filler relocation tonight, and it's hawt. Took a little persuasion from a hammer on the corner and an aftermaket cap, but it doesn't touch the trunk lid.

When I did mine I actally added a little drain hole with a hose so if gas was to drip it would drain to the ground. I hae tons of pics if anyone wants to see.

uuummmmm no no you was not the first one to do this.. peaple have been doing this long before 02 .. I first saw this on a car in the early 1970's ... and I've also seen it on the 55 chevys they would move the filler to behind the tail lights .... so please dont think YOU was the first to do this
