ok now im just trying to get info together for when i do finally order one. now after a bit of researching house of kolor and duponts site i found a site that showed the colors. now i know HOK dont make a silver kandy but im not sure about dupont. so would using a pearl and a mid coat over the carbonfiber alone be good. i want to keep the carbon fiber weave showing through but i dont want that much black color on my car. and i know it would be too damn expensive to get a carbon kevlar hood made so really this is my one option. if i do a pearl would it look alright or would i have to go over the whole car with the pearl? either way i would probably go through with an entire paint over after i get my kit and such installed. minus the engine bay seeing as how i wanna keep silver as my main color so it wouldnt look too much different. well thanks for reading and thanks for any info you would be able to give. also my stock color is ultra silver metallic
I talked to a guy I work with who has restored a lot of old cars and does a lot of painting about doing that to my hood and he said that it might work if you just mix a little of the Ultra silver with some clear and then shoot that. That way from a distance it would look silver but upclose you could see through it. He wasn't sure though. I don't want to test it out either. I don't want to buy a new hood or sand of all the color if it didn't work.

I have heard of mixing color in with clear coat. I have seen a company that tints taillights (some to match the color of the car) and I'm assuming that is how they are doing it.
well what about if i went with the silver pearl that HOK has? i know it would probably be a little more expensive but if i only used the mid coat and then cleared over it that should show the carbon fiber under that correct? like if i left the gel coat and then just sprayed the mid coat with the pearl like 10-12 coats worth and then sprayed like 6 coats of clear on it that should be pretty damn good eh? or would it seem out of place? im just wondering if ill have to pearlize my whole car to get the effect that the hood is silver carbon fiber.... just tryin to get a feel for it as it will be a few months till i get the hood and then theres the whole finding a place that can do the paint for me. well yeah any of yall painters includin you micah let me know whats up when it comes to the whole paint idea? thanks in advance..........
