i was wondering if anyone had any problems with there drivers side headlight being dim. i have checked the fuse. the lights are brand new i used to have 96 headlight and they were dim on the driverside as well then i converted to 2000 and they are still dim. all lights are brand new fuses are good and right size. i was wondering what i should do next to fix this problem ? any help would work thanks.
have u disabled DRLs? i know a few have had this problem and Menitti wrote a howto on using relays.. i think maybe disabling ur DRLs might help.. but also what kind of pigtails did u use? RKSport or Auto Zone ones or ones out of a actual cavalier or sunfire?
well this has been a problem with both headlight setups so i dont think its that.
may appear dim, because they are not aimed correctly. That was the problem on my 04.

it was a working cavalier not junked he blew the motor and let me take them. and no there deff 100% dim
this pic shows the difference it may look like its just the pic but its not that is really the difference.
we have that issue with my girls car also. we went from the 99 to 00 headlights also. used to have relays, they didnt work, so i hard wired them, still have it. not sure what the issue is, but its annoying!!
if i bought hids would this take car of the problem ?
probably not, to me its seeming to be a wiring or ground issue. do this, remove the driverside headlight and look between the frame rail and radiator. ull want to look under the battery tray.. there should be 1-2 spots where there is a bolt that are holding some ground wires. those are from the headlight harness.. see if theyve maybe came loose or broken somewhere.. its kinda a pain to get to but with a wobble extension or 2 should be able to get to it and check tightness.. as for seeing if the wire is broken i cant think of any easy solution other then ull need to take the harness out to get probably the best possible look.. it could just be there is a ground problem in the socket or wiring in the harness to the pigtail also. If ur not shorting out the circuit u wont blow a fuse so just having a broken ground could be teh problem.
but.. im not 100% thats just my take on it with teh given information.
could you take some jumper wire and reground them to test or am I way off
could, from the middle spot in the pigtail to say a bolt or something. just shove a wire in there and ground it somewhere, or take a needle or prong or something and shove it in there then attach ur wire or clip ur wire on.
ok i tried the ground thing and it did not work i mean the light got a tad brighter then it went back. do i need to change that "relay" type thing in front of the radiator. my headlights are all messed up now like. they would not turn off unless i touched the relay i was talking about. now the switch will not even turn on or off the headlights i have to pull the fuse every time i want to turn my head lights off. idk what i should do hear please please help i need this fixed.
could be the relay, could also be the headlight switch, have u disabled ur DRLs also? doubt it will help but u never know. If u have a multimeter i would test the current at the relay then after the relay see if its sending the same current through. Relay might be burnt up. If u have a multimeter i would be checking the wires and relay make sure ur getting enough current.
Check BOTH your headlights to make sure they''re the same wattage.
