Debadging - paint fade???
Wednesday, June 21, 2006 9:59 AM
I wanna debadge my car (remove the front bowtie and the rear "Chevrolet" and "Cavalier") but it's a 1998... will the paint have faded too much? I'm worried that if I take the badges off you'll just see an outline of where they used to be.

Advice?

I was happy when I heard my car ran 10s. Then I found out that was 0-60.

i dont know. youd have to take it off to find out. if it looks a little faded, just wash and wax the car and it should help

yea i have a 98 and i debadged it a few months ago.......it took about two weeks of washing and waxing to get the back emblems to completely go away...the front one though, is still there a little bit...the paint is better under the emblem, so it is a little darker due to not fading.......it kinda looks cool tho....good luck with it tho man....

Alright cool. Might start with just the text badges and see how they come out.

Mine's a 2000, I took the front emblem off last summer and you can still see where it was if you look at it in the sun just right. But it's not TOO noticeable, I'd say just do it.

I took off my pinstriping last week (I have a 98 also) and I can't tell any difference... My car has been in either FL or KY it's whole life, so it's seen plenty of sun.

I just debadged my car last night. The rear "Cavalier" and"Chevrolet" emblems turned out fine, and the bow tie left jsut the slightest amount of fade, barely noticeable. The front bow tie also left a hint of fade and the side " Rally Sport" emblems left no fade at all. It was really easy to do. I used Goo Gone to pull off all the old adhesive, and just for giggles I used some el cheapo detailer stuff I found at a dollar store. It actually did as good a job of polishing than the Mothers and Meguiars stuff I've always used.
