i have a 04 sunfire that i am doing the conversion to a 99 style cav. my question is, is that the sunfire had fog lights and I am going to put a bmx front bumper on it, can I cut the connectors for the factor fogs off and just wire up the aftermarket fogs to them and still use the factory switch in the dash? would this cause any problems or not??? thnaks for any info

Yes you can use the factory harness for the fogs and shouldn't pose any problems

The only concern I would have is that the factory harness is constructed to handle the current draw from 27W fogs if you go to a 55watt or higher fog/driving light there might be too much draw on the wires or relays and they may melt... I'm not sure though... I don't know what the wire gauge is or if the relays are designed to handle the increase in current... You would be going from a 4-5 amp draw to almost a 10 amp draw. Just so you are aware... It's like those horror stories of guys installing the high wattage bulbs in the normal housings with stock wiring and melting it all... so beware...

I can say that I went from the 27W 881 to an 886 which is 55w and have not had any melting on my fogs or any wires burning. I have been running the 886 bulbs for 6 years now. I wouldn't go any higher than 55w using the original wires.
