YES!!! finally got my plate shaved
Tuesday, February 14, 2006 9:29 PM
well a few weeks ago my car was backed in to by the guy across the street and hes paying for the damage. i finally got to take it in today for the new fender and head light. they also need to repair/paint the bumper cover. so i was talking to my body guy today and was telling him how i wanted to shave the plate off the front of it. he said well we have to paint the whole bumper cover anyway to get it to match. so we can fill in those 3 holes while where at it. so im pretty thrilled to get rid of that plate right in the middle of my bumper, now im working on the best place to mount it. its illegal to have no front plate and the cops enforce that here with a $110 fine.
any suggestions on where to mount it guys? i was thinking of putting it in the grill.

oh yea hes doing it for a coffee im not ripping my neighbor

In MD it has to be attached to the front of the car and visable from 10 feet away. Windshield is illegal here you may want to check the laws where your from so youdon't get hassled.

I got a warning about no front plate too (Ontario) after having shaved my holes and re spraying the bumper. If you're looking for a sleek look, bend the plate on top and on the bottom so just the numbers and the province show. As long as you don't cut it, cops will leave you alone. I've had mine like that sinse September with no probs.

I've always wondered why they require there to be a front plate as well. I'm guessing so a cop can recognize a plate they might be looking for while coming the opposite direction. Even then though if both cars are moving at say 45mph, they wouldn't be able to read it before you pass each other.

i dont see the point of getting rid of the mounting holes , then having to find a new place to put the plate

I had mine in the windshield for a while...didnt like it...blocked off too much view...I like to keep my car centered in the lane by watching the lines on either side...I couldnt see the lines unless they were like 6 feet in front of the car...

In Virginia, it has to be on the front, can't be in the windshield. I mounted mine to the mesh in my front bumper with zip ties when I had Virginia tags.

Thank God I've got WV tags now.
