Kinda confused on this maybe someone can help me out. We were all gathered talking tonight at wendys and we got onto the subject of what im doing next to my car, now i was telling them im buying a cf evo hood and some kid told me to balance out the rear with a cf trunk, i was thinking about it but my cars white and dont want it to look like an oreo here. but i really would like one. anyhow, im not thinking doing a cf trunk will make that much of a difference but maybe im wrong weight loss wise? i dunno just kind of an opinion thing here i guess on how it will look, and what it would do balancing weight loss wise if its anything noticeable.
FWIW, theres a guy with a white WRX that lives around the corner from me and he has a CF hood, and it looks just fine. I think a CF trunk would look a bit silly with a CF hood on a white car. Just my $.02
Lifes too short to drink cheap beer.
If you don't think it looks good when you do it, you could always paint it. I think it would look pretty good though. And even if it doesn't weigh that much less than stock, weight loss is weight loss - every little bit adds up. And maybe that kid wasn't talking in terms of weight loss, but appearance. Either way, I say go for it.
Im thinkin go for it too, cf trunk with cf prostock, type j kit, and cf evo hood. i think itll look good from what im picturing in my mind. your right though too every little bit of weight loss helps.
talking about weight loss, then talking about a body kit and spoiler and what not. if you want the car to be light, put her back to stock and then think about a cf trunk.... thats my .02 cents
This is what I was gonna do but since your looking into it maybe this would an option for you. I was gonna do a carbon fiber hood and trunk and then do a carbon fiber over lay on the roofs center part in between where the doors shut to. That gives you the whole carbon two tone thing going on. Just a thought,

if you put a carbon fiber trunk on a white car it will look good. I JUST think it all depends on how bright the white of the car is.I dont know much about paint but i know there is a few different shades of white. IMO if you had a set of carbon fiber tails with the inner tails shaved along with the trunk. It will flow real good along with the carbon fiber evo hood.
i think that would look hot!
a carbon fiber hood & trunk on a white car(stock Z24) would look @!#$ amazing... i'm prolly gonna get the trunk too if i can find one when i can afford it... my cars black tho...

As far as your friend saying it will balance, no need for that, weight reduction is weight reduction. It doesnt matter if you balance weight loss out front to back near as much as just the loss period.
As far as looks, it could look good, have seen it done before and like it, but depends what look you going for, then talking about doing a cf overlay on the roof, is another thing that will just add weight.
Figure what u wanna do with the car, show or go, then work towards it, adding a kit and extras is best for show, go stock as can be plus weight reduction such as full cf parts, and then you will cut weight some.

sorry i had to wait till today to post ran out :-( newho...... z24 baller obviously you missed the question. 03, cf blues.... yeah its half and half in my mind half of it is for the weight reduction side of it, and the other half is for looks. right now i am going for the racing side of it because im not putting a freshly painted type j on before winter, and i finished my motor to my liking first so its kinda a sleeper style right now, but when finished will be a show and go car, with the full kit, big system etc.. Also im thinking of doing cf z3 fenders but not sure if thats pushing it too much. thoughts on that too?
In my opiinon, it all comes down to what kind of rims you have.
If you have darker rims (gunmetal or black). If you do have darker rims, it would look very nice with the c/f hood & trunk. If you don't...it would be more questionable. Honestly, I need to see a picture of your car in it's current state to give a full opinion.

itll have the same rims as boosted2point4
The carbon roof overlay would add weight true but since your replaceing the hood and trunk lid for the carbon pieces then any weight gain would be offset to the point where it wouldn't matter. But like I said it was just a thought.
Good luck

i like the idea of it though it would make it flow really nice. its a thought. where would i get something like that and aproximitly what would it cost? ive heard the last guy on here who did it had it bubbling and stuff underneeth.
Where are you located? If your local M I N I O N is now doing carbon fiber stuff so you should ask him.
M I N I O N , Are you listening?
If hes not E-mail him hes cool as sh-t and can probly help you out.
Let me know if you can't fine him as hes local for me and I know him.

I live in south eastern CT, stonington. As far south east as you can go in the state without hitting water or RI, im about 5 miles from both lol. Is he local for me?! lol
I saw your car pics, I still say go black rims...

depending on what kind of racing you were doing, the balance thing could come into play... not so much in drag racing as autox/road racing (although you have the weight of the engine up front so you'd want to do your weight reduction there to balance the handling of the car)
visually, a cf hood and trunklid compliment each other well. if you are worried about weight for drag racing, then the trunklid will help reduce weight too (although for the best weight reduction, you'd want to ditch the trunk arms as they weigh alot compared to just the lid)
No hes local to Md. Your a little far north I'd venture to say. But good luck you gotta post some pics when your done it should look great. And Killas right I'd also go with some black rims too. 18's with a nice polished lip and a 2 inch drop that car will be tight!

yeah its sitting on a 1.6/1.4 or vise versa ( i just woke up ) drop right now, and i was thinking of doing some excel rs-gt 18"s black with polished lip. i think itll look really good. im going to throw the CF prostock wing on there too. Its half and half on half of it will look really good on the car for showwise, and the other half is just a weight loss for your average night of street racing. cause im thinking everyone 100 lbs is 10 hp, so between the hood and the trunk i should gain maybe 5-8hp? As far as autoxing i havnt done that but id like to try it. Nothing in my area though. All we have is old country roads that are very windy, tight, and uphill downhill. so its always break, gas, shift, gas, shift break, etc. Pretty fun, anyone with some country roads in there area knows what im talking about.
oh and id throw some pics of my car on here, but i have no idea how. lol. my car hasnt seen j-body yet. :-( if youd like to see it though or help me with a photo shop i can send them thru aim lol right nj?! apexiranger is my screename on aim if anyone wants to shoot me a im. thanks guys
