just curious if there are gas struts available to prop our hoods up.. I saw a kit on ebay for like $70, but figured if we found the right struts at the auto parts store, it couldn't be more than $20 lol..

These kits were prototyped with OEM parts, which are steel. The carbon fiber & fiberglass hoods/fenders have been tried... and I believe most have not held all that well. Usually they put larger metal brackets on the fender and/or hood to help spread out the force on the fg/cf.
You can give it a shot, but I can't guarantee anything.
