Today we fixed a Cav with a headlight problem, in case anyone else runs into this.
Problem:
The drivers side headlight was dim, the daytime running lights would not work and the dash indicator flashed when the car was in gear, the high beams worked fine.
Answer:
The drivers headlight bulb malfunctioned and melted itself to the 9007 harness plug shorting out the wires (cheap RK Sport conversion plug). This also destroyed the headlight switch in the column, without blowing any fuses. The bulb could not be seperated from the harness plug. A new 9007 harness plug ($6.95 good quality) had to be installed and a new headlight switch ($45 w/o cruise control) in the column had to be installed.
If anyone has a similar problem and can't figure out what is wrong, try to remove the bulb from the harness of the dim side. If it won't budge you may have a similar problem.
