Painting Z24 Bumper
Tuesday, August 30, 2005 6:57 PM
Ok guys... I got a question. Would it be possible to paint the black parts of my bumper body color? I just saw a 2002 Yellow Z24 and it was all body color, looked awesome. I know it's a different type of plastic, just like the black bumpers on the older cavaliers.... some people say it's paintable, some people don't. Would I be ok if I just sanded it down, hit up Autozone and picked up some color-match auto paint?

Black (mine)

Painted (googled)

yeah just sand prime and paint and clear but i don't think the autozone paint will stay on for long i think it would flake off it dosen't have the stuff in it to flex.

fles agent is for one purpose only and that is to help the body man to install the bumper and after a few months it evaporates out of the clear yes you still have to flex bumpers

anyway............that part is paintable do not buy the rattle can crap it will not last and look like crap
if that part does not have a factory primer on it then it will need to be preped like a piece of raw plastic washed with warm soapy water and if it is still slick washed one more time scufed and then preped with a plastic cleaner and then the adheshion promoter applied in ppg you have to wait 30 min`s before appliing base coat
if the part has factory primer on it scuff it wipe it down with a wax and grease remover apply sealer apply base apply clear
take it to a shop and get estimates on how much it will cost

can i haz bondo
