I got my door kit and tried putting it on...Anyone that says it's easy is on serious drugs.....I spent about 5 hours trying to install the passenger side and ended up putting the oem hinges back on. I can not get the door to line up right.... I need some serious suggestions as to what I should do....I tried everything and got NO WHERE..This is really pi$$ing me off.
It's the MMS kit..Has anyone else had the same problems???? Anyone have any suggestions....Thanks, Jay

I had the same problem. It was a pain to install. What I did was enlarge all the holes were the bolts go so that I had a lot of room to work with. I used all stock hardware and none of the hardware which was provided. It takes a lot of time and effort. I had to take them off 3-4 times so everything lined up. But once you got it all lined up they fit good. Just take your time and keep at it. They do work.

I had the same problem.. after 11 hours I went back to stock and gave up.. for now. I think I will try elongating the holes sometime though.. I'm pretty sure that will fix my problem, it might fix yours too?

Hey Shadyz24...dont give up. It took me 3 tries to get it right. The first few times i was in a rush and couldnt spend time to align the doors properly so i ended going with the stock hinges. Finally 2 weeks ago I gave myself 2 days so i was not in a rush. The best thing to do is have a friend hold the door while you take out the stock hinges. Then you bolt on the MM hinges while your friend hold the door. all the holes should line up properly.

You can also try removing the door completely and then test fit the hinge to the car but then you might need a few friends to hold the door while you bolt the hinge arm to the door. Test fitting the hinge to the car should be able to tell you if you need a new hinge.

I was feeling the same way you are when I failed the first few times but let me tell you, once your done you wil feel a lot better. Everyday that goes buy the more I like the kit. Changes the look of the car completely and do not regret it. Hang in there and you will get it done. Joe is a great guy and I'm sure he will help you out soon as he reads your email.

Thanks Very much. I needed to hear that, well read it. I WAS in a rush, had to pick someone up from the airport. This coming Saturday I am going to start in the morning and take my time. I did leave the door latched on the car and put the hinge on, just couldn't seem to get enough adjustment....
Also noticed that the bottom of my door was never painted from the factory. Looks like overspray and primer on the bottom. But I guess I can deal with that until I get my body kit on and painted.....Just kinda got let down by GM when I saw that......Thanks again, Jay

ratchet straps...the kind you tie a 4 wheeler down in trailer with. put one around the doors with the windows down just abouve the sail pannels, over the windshield. the the other at the very rear of the doors, at the top rear corner, with the door shut and latched and strapped TIGHTLY, remove fenders and stock hinges, door shouldnt move at all, make sure the height adjusting screw in the hinge is backed all the way out, fit the hinge up to the car and make sure all the holes and bolts line up. then bolt it in place, with the door shut and hinge bolted in place, adjust the height adjustment screw till it is snug on the hinge but not too tight. remove staps and open and close door slowly and keep tweeking the adjusting screw till when its all the way down it swings shut easily, have friend hold the door up in the air and attach the strut. bring door all the way down and continue the adjusting process. shouldnt take too too long, didnt take me long and all i had was a ratchet set, friend, and 2 ratchet straps

On the other hand....you have other fingers.

i had lots of toys when i was young.slinky,etc.but once i found my penis, that was all she wrote

Yeah, but everyone that's saying to keep the door on and all the holes should line up when putting the new hinges in place, that was my biggest problem! I thought something was wrong with the hinge because they didn't line and I ended up having to open up the door thus opening up a can of W-A upon myself for 2 weeks

Thanks for the advice. I will try the ratchet straps and see what happens. I am going to start again Saturday Morning and take my time. Hopefully I will have more patience with it. Then atleast I won't have to rush and can take my time.....Jay

If the bolts will not fit in the holes, swap them out with some of the bolts from the top of the strut tower and they fit in just fine. It took us about 30 minutes to figure out that the bolts simply would not fit, but once we started looking for something else we realized that these would work just fine. The install took me and 2 friends about 4 hours, and we had no experience doing anything like this. It was not that difficult, the hardest part is adjusting them so the door closes easily. That took some time, but all in all I think that the kit is great. Good luck!
