Alright, i know this topic has been beaten to death, but the original GP post has been deleted, and now i can't find my answer. I got the bodyshop to install my hinges, but when you open the door regular, the door flies up with barely touching it. Without the shock installed, they close fine, but when the shock is in, you can't push the door all the way down to close it, you sorta have to hold it suspended (from flying up, and not pushing it all the way), and really have to slam it closed to get it to shut. The bodyshop is saying the shocks are way too strong. What can i do about this guys? what adjustments do they need to do? Thanks for any positive input you guys can give me!
talk to Joe who ran the group purchase...he can get ya some shocks that arent as strong
any other way without replacing the shocks?
nope...if the shocks are too strong then thats the only route to go...unless you just wanna add 50 lbs to each door..and keep the same shocks- which would be stupid
what are the reasons some people haven't had problems then with these 750lbs shocks?
do you think i should go with 650 or 700 as replacements? and are the shocks easy to install with the fenders already installed?
I have the MM's as well with the 750lbs shocks and just installed the hinges on the weekend and love them. I did notice the shocks are a little strong but they seem to be adjusting nicely. Only after a few days you can already tell that the shocks are learning. Not sure how eles to explain it. Give it a few weeks and the shocks should settle in.
^^ What he said. And to the shocks will feel stronger on hotter days than they do on cooler days. Just give it some time. You'll get used to them
Ryan,
I have a 720 lb shock, and am actually looking for a 750, shoot me an email if you would ever want to trade, the 720s dont push the door up without a little help from me.
650 would be way too light I would be afraid of it not supporting it very well, and I have no experience with the 700s.

Face, when you put your doors on did you have to roll your fender lip? it says in the instruction that you need to on most cars

Hey Matt...i didnt have to roll the fenders. All i had to do was adjust the fenders so they were flush with the door. What happens is that since the bracket in the fender is no longer needed, the fender will tend to stick out a little. If it does then when the door is opened, it will catch on the fender.
The only thing i have to fix now is the gap between the door and the fender. Its a little bigger then I would like it to be.
All in all the install was very easy. Getting the hinges on is probably the easiest part. The only part I found difficult was adjusting the fenders.
i have the 750's also . ive had mine for about a month already and the shocks are not as strong and dont shoot up anymore. just give it time and they will give. also i thought about going with the 700's but im glad i stayed with the 750's . i do alot of riding around on the weekends. and ive driven with them both up for about 6 blocks and had them up for hours at a time and they dont give. so 750's are good if you have a coupe. for a sedan they were using the 650's. hope this helps
I NEED a 97-99 LD9 engine harness for an auto.PM if u hav info.!!
What do ya'll mean by "roll" the fender. I'm not a big body guy, so you will have to enlighten me.
700's is for sure the way to go. 650's will be way too light especially if it's a daily driver
like evryone's saying after awhile they wont shoot up so much. eso the driver side since its used more then the passenger. my wife is 5 2 and could barely shut the door at 1st now she shuts it just fine.
mine still shoot up and ive had them since the first GP
im gonna be trying the 700's soon though so ill let y'all know how the 700's do on a 2 door
mine shoot up sometimes as well i just learnd to deal with it. as well as not having a place near the door to bolt up my fenders am stumped on that as well. I just noticed the gap between my fender and door is pretty big as well. Any idea how i can solve that. mayb in a 2 weeks when i get a week off of work i'll rip into my car since i wont need it to drive to work.
o and i forgot to add that i read a copule weeks ago about the strut being mounted black side down or black side up?? im unsure which way it has to be? i have black side down for now but ive heard it should be the other way. i love the doors but i still need some adjusting to do.
You know i am having the same problem as far as having the fenders not line up right. Anyone else have this problem and fix it somehow.

hey man, when u try the 700's...please post right away on how they are on the coupe
I've had the 700lbs shock on my ride for about 4 months now. I went to a car show where I left my doors up for 7 hours and they held up fine. They are still strong. The only problem is when in high temp heat....lol....the doors are a pain to get down....lol
Other than that 700lbs works for me.
