ok, after seaching and not finding much.......here is how to do it............first heres what you need

2 flathead screwdrivers
7/32nd socket and rachet
oven preheated to 200 degrees farenheight
rtv silicone sealant
gloves

ok, put the light in the oven, bake for 12 min at 200 degrees

remove, and pry the clear lens from the housing, its tough, but the black glue will separate

separate the black shroud from the clear lens, by prying the glue off

unclip the orange reflector

remove the 2 bolts from the turn signal lens

install bolts back in turn signal housing,

clean all old sealant off of light assembly

paint shroud what color you want

clean all parts prior to reassembly

put it all back together, making sure to use rtv sealant where the old glue was

reinstall on the car


its a pretty easy job and i'll post pics later of mine when its all painted

one thing.......removing the old sealant is a bitch....takes a while to clean up.....but man does it look sweet.....and its not even painted yet....just getting those reflectors out makes it look 1000 times better

and i know these directions have been posted before, but theyre hard to find, so since i just did it, i figured id make a nice write up, who knows, mabey it'll get to be a sticky

no, i preheated the oven to 200 and put the light in when the oven was at 200 and baked it, just like a cake

nothing gets made a sticky....

and easiest way to remove the sealan i with a razor knife and flathead screw driver thr the width of the gap

and temp i cooked them about 10-12 minuets at 350 I think it was

oh and since some idiot will do it.... DO NOT COOK THEM ON BROIL (where there are actual flames) they will melt/deform or light on fire.... trust me a buddy of mine did it

well i was just posting what i did, i used one screwdrifver to pry and one to hold tension, guess a razor would be better


and damn man you got bigger balls than me, mine were quite pliable after baking at 200......i thought 350 would melt them for sure

and wow...thats funny about the broil thing.......too funny

So is this only for the newer style headlights?

not sure, i only did them to mine, but im sure that the older ones will come apart in a similar manner....i just haven't done it because i don't own an older one, if you try, please post it here, and if there is any differences in the way its done

I know for the 00-02, they turn signal lamps were a different set, so they were easily buyable. For the 03-05, they combined the whole set into one mount, so I'd think that these instructions would only be useful for the 03-05.

Has anyone run into cop trouble with the clear corners? My friend got a ticket with his for a "misuse of lighting system" cause the light bulb was white instead of orange. So do you have to buy an orange bulb?

well, i havent' got an orange bulb yet, but i'd strongly suggest it, i think white turn signals are illegal, but not sure, i know that the white signals are bright as hell

and i think clear corners are illegal, but i doubt anyone will say anything, and if so, just hang on to the reflectors so if they do say something, you can just put them back in

its a nice write up but you have to remember that everyones oven is different. so one time for you might be different for someone else.

well....i figure if the oven is 200 degrees, it will be the same for all ovens, but still, if darkstars heated his at 350 and his were ok, im sure heating for even 20 min will be ok at 200 degrees

I didn't want to get any @!#$ from the cops about it, so I removed the middle oragne reflector, and left the one in the corner. It still looked pretty good, specially since I painted the bezel blue.

post some pics man, i wanna see how it looks!!

and as far as the legality.....you may be able to get a yellow reflector and stick a magnet on the back of it and just put it on the fender so it'll look like its installed..........just a thought
