I have a '97 Cavalier LS (Convertible). RIght behind the license plate mount is the black plastic grill. I want to give my car alittle more aggressive look, so I am thinking about just removing the plastic and replacing it w. AL mesh. I just want to know how big a project this is going to be, and if the front bumper has to be removed or can I just work from under the car? Also, in addition to the visable part, how much extra area around should I get to mount it securely to the bumper?

Exactly like it
That is the stock bumper, correct?

that looks good because the mesh is really small. ive seen some that use other kinds of larger mesh and it looks terrible. if you do it, id take the bumper off and do it. it will be a lot easier to do.
Yes sir. It took me a better part of a weekend... I had to paint the fog light housings as well.
1. Remove bumper cover.
2. Cut the plastic grill right out.
3. sand the cut edge smooth, then touch up with "touch up paint" fromm dealership.
4. On the back of the bumper cover, sand and scrape around the outer edge of the hole (where the mesh grill is going to be glued.
5. Place the mesh over the opening and press around the edges so that it fits flush.
6. Buy a 6-8 tubes of 2 part epoxy glue. Mix and glue away!
This is how I did mine. It's been on for a year. It's been through a Canadian winter.
Good luck
Also, what is the size of the mesh, and where did get it? Would a hardware store have it?

Ya, like a Home Depot. It's basically eves troff covering.
You'd pay more at a performance shop.
