heh there gang well the time for paint is approaching, i first of all was going to go with ppg omni, with is a good economy paint but i thought why not splurge and go with somehting a little nicer. a gallon of ppg omni ran me list 119.45 the sale price was 94.80 not for just the paint. ppg dbc ran me 354.70 for a gallon but 298.50 for three quarts which should be plenty when reduced 1:1. 1 1/2 gallons should be more than enough to cover the car trunk and the interior plans i have. just wondering if anybody here has any experience with ppg omni and/or dbc, i know quality cost money just wanna know if the the extra 200 bucks is worth it, thanks guys

very nice choice in product ya got there
i love ppg products and have been using them for the past 10 yrs, the durabilty is second to none with ppg
if you use ppg`s dcu 2021 yes it`s a few yr`s old but the clear flows and the shine is unlike no other
the dbc system is the easiest to use it`s uses one reducer for primer, sealer, base and clear
if you used dx 57 ratio 1:1 to 5 % the dx 57 acts a hardner and helps with film build and aids in the application of graphics and also it`s chip resitant so ppg`s says
also helps with the lay out of mettalic and pearl`s and candies
ppg`s econo line which is the omni product is a decent product for small jobs sure you can do whole cars with it but i like for small jobs in side hinge pillars gas tanks stuff like that
i recomend using dcu 2200 sealer line underneath the base coat when it dries it lays out like a sheet of glass which helps the dbc metaalic to lay down even smoother
here are some ratio`s of the dbc line and the ncp 271 primer filler
271, 3:1
sealer 1:1/2
base coat 1:1 to 5% of dx 57
ncs 2021 or 2042 clear 4:1:1 flexed clear 4:1:2 the 2 part is the flex agent dx 814
you will be very happy with the product line and the quality of ppg

can i haz bondo

Hey jared, did you ever get my email. It wouldn't let me send to your aol address so I sent one to your work. I haven't heard back from you. In all honesty I've been using mostly the cheaper paints lately and they are decent, but if had to color match then deltron is what I would advise which of course you wouldn't have to worry about. The deltron covers a lot better then omni which seems to be kind of transparent, so in the long run deltron isn't really that much more expensive if it covers in less coats. I've used Dcu 2020 back in tech school and it was a nice clear, I believe the 2021 is what took its place. All those government agencys regulating paint and voc content in them is probably what caused it to be replaced. You probably wouldn't have to really seal your car. The base can be sprayed over the exsisting factory finish, and any spots needing bodywork will have sanded primer. The thing sealer is nice for though is getting the car all one color before spraying the basecoat, so you usually try to get a sealer close in color or shade to the color you are spraying. Shoot me an email. Of course you wouldn't be using the whole deltron system and have ppg omni primer on there, and the last primer you picked up was transtar or something, but I haven't run into problems mixing lines yet, knock on wood.
