What type of sponge should I use?

I'm going to do my after-winter car wash/detail today and I'm going to go buy another sponge to wash the car with but I just wanted some opinions. What would be the softest type of sponge to use? Which sponge would be the best to help cut down on the amount of scratches? Any help is appreciated.

lamb's wool or cotton chenille sponges/mitts are the best out there. i prefer using the mitt over the sponge.
