My Trunklid
Sunday, February 13, 2005 5:37 PM
Well I have been talking about my Dad (TedtheToolMan) working on my factory trunklid and molding in a spoiler. Can't wait till it gets done so I can get rig of that Class Glass Trunklid.

With the taillights in

My Dad at work

Don't mind the domain name on the trunklid it is old and it will be removed.

We have much more work to do My dad has to finish up the welding, clean it up and we are going to use bodyfiller and the rest of the fun stuff.

I think the spoiler rises too high for my taste, but still it looks good, and I can respect the work that goes into something like that

That should look pretty hot when painted. GL with it all.

while your doing all that work to the lid, why don't you just shave the inner tails. would look alot cleaner in my opinion, but its your car so do what u like, so far so good

i love the the spoiler except one thing, i don't like the angle it goes out at. maybe it will change when on the car and painted..but still looks good

interresting... i wouldn't leave the tail lights in it while i was working on it, but im sure he's being careful not to mess them up any. should look pretty good when it's finished.

I think that your trunk is a model example of what a pro-stock would look like molded in a trunk. The metal work I have to say is awesome. Definitely gonna look good once finished. One question though, how much heavier is the trunklid now with all the extra metal added on?

I do have the Class Glass CF trunklid with the spoiler molded in without the inners in. honestly I want my inner taillights back lol. I also miss my reverse lights. I was also thinking of getting the Cobalt SS inner tails but decided to opt that out.

Yeah that look isn't for everyone. I am going for that American Muscle/Pro Stock/Nascar look

That is why I am watching and learning from my dad.

Thank You I am keeping the tails I might put the stock ones back in, Or find some new one even though I like my Altezzas even if they are Altezzas because I know mine are from the first run and are illigeal anyways. lol

We haven't had them in while we were are working on it. We had the tails in so we can get a look at it and take pictures and at that same time my dad jumped in to clean some of the welds and I decided to take some action shots. LOL

A lot of people have been asking me that. All where you see the bare metal we cut out the metal from the factory trunklid and we are basically welding that peice in smooth. So the actual extra metal we are adding will be just the spoiler part itself. Honestly I don't think it will be much if at all heavier than if you bought the Fiberglas Prostock wing from RK and attatched it to your factory trunklid.

This Trunklid will deffinetly will be heavier than my Class Glass CF trunklid but I am sick and tired of looking at the poor Quality and fitment of the Class Glass Products. I was one of the first if not the first with that CF trunklid and I will not make that mistake again.

Is there any other way

It is no higher than what the Class Glass Trunklid is. It just makes more of a Define curve. Plus I belive it will look tammer when it gets painted.

I SATCHMOE YOU!!!! wrote:WHALE TAIL JUNIOR!!!!!!!!

effing right.

Looks good man, I am curious to see what it will all look like when it is painted with the inner tailights still in.

As far has the Class Glass lid goes, mine was the fiberglass version and it fit pretty well. Just a little adjusting at some spots and shaving down some excess fiberglass and it fit rather nicely.

Have a good one,
Justin

I have noticed how the Fiberglass has fitted better.

Trust me we did all we could do to get the trunklid to fit. That is one of the Jobs I have at GM is Fit and Finish so the little mills gao that is it is off gets on my nerves.

The Trunklid pretty much has found a new home already. But first this trunklid needs to get finished.
