VE Tuning - Having issues...

Hey guys, I'm all set up to begin tuning the car for the turbo and I've been following Shifted's guide for VE tuning in the FAQ. Right now I'm just trying to get the idle to work properly... So I went into the VE table for idle, and it shows MAP Pressure vs. RPM, and in the cell, the volumetric efficiency (unless I'm stupid?). Anyways I'm assuming that as I decrease the volumetric efficiency, I should see the AFR decreasing...

But as I turn the car on, I'm finding that the AFR just keeps going up as the car is warming up (getting up 17-18AFR)... I've decreased the idle tables to a value of about 85% of stock, and it's still that high. Is there any particular thing I may be overlooking in the tuning, or should I keep just trying to lower the values? I'm obviously pretty new to this, so I'm trying to be as careful as I can.
I know at idle and cruise you can get away with somewhat lean conditions, assuming I am going to put a cat in after I'm done tuning, what should I be looking at for idle and cruise AFR? 14?

Side note, I was reading in the sticky about how you should turn off DFCO, however I couldn't figure out how exactly to do that... I assumed just setting it to values that the car would never reach, but then I was reading about how if your values are too far off the car will run really poorly... Is this step necessary?

If you guys need any info I'll do my best to provide it for you...

Thanks!

The lower the VE # the leaner. The higher the number the richer. IIRC

Lol... thanks dude, I kind of figured that out as I was on my way back inside just now...

The reason why I thought it was the other way around is in the FAQ he says 'decrease the values until you get to pig rich'. Okay I'll try going the other way - thanks dude

Alright I'm gonna follow up the initial stupid question with another stupid question.

Okay, I have another question/concern.... I tuned it pretty rich, but it's almost dead on the money high 10- low 12, which is good for now My concern is this, when I let off the gas for more than a few seconds, the wideband goes NUTS. Like I'm talking shoots 20-30 sometimes?? Once I hit the gas again, right back down to 11-12 though... This happens even if it's decelerating at 2500 or more, depending on when I let off.... Is that normal, because I know it cuts the fuel which may be why it's going nuts, but I just didnt expect it to be THAT drastic.

Any opinions?

Again I'm still learning, please be gentle lol!

Thanks!

Yea it'll do that....if you have the DFCO turned off it will stay in the commanded afr range but if it's still on (meaning you left the tables the same as stock) then it will go to the most lean the gauge will allow....cause you have no fuel injecting.
