Tuning school

Anyone know if there's any good books out there for learning to tune EFI cars? I'm pretty well rounded in everything but fuel maps. I'm more use to tuning old carburated cars. I wan't to remove the speed limiter, tweak the timing, and adjust the fuel map for my exaust, but I don't wan't to even think about messing with fuel maps before I really know what I'm doing.....I don't need another blown engine. Any help or direction would be appreciated, thanx.

BUY and USE a wideband. Narrowband's are only good around stoich. Alternately you could use the tailpipe WB of a dyno.... which you will need to find MBT anyhow.

Greg Banish has EFI 101 workshops scattered around the countryside. Search Amazon for topics like engine management.

I just picked one up:

How to Tune and Modify Engine Management Systems by Jeff Hartman

It's a pretty good read so far.

LMK what you think when it's done. The Hartman book seemed ok to me, but it 's oriented toward aftermarket or non-GM systems and I've got a different point of view from most others who will read it.

yeah, I'm probably 30 pages or so into it now. it already seems like it's geared more towards non-GM products. I have learned quite a bit so far, like how each sensor works and how it is used in calculation fuel tables.

Heck, I already know how every sensor works on my car, and what it's for, I just need to learn how to apply it to tuning the ECM. Thanks for the suggestions or any more, I'm gunna make a trip to the book store this weekend. Also... anything that doesn't cater purly to imports (or Honda's wich is the usuall case) would be nice. I guess where the inly people that have ever even thought about tuning GM econoboxes before though.
