HPT Info needed.

For the last few weeks I have been reading up alot on HPT. I still have alot to learn about because I know nothing about tuning. I'm not going with a wild record breaking build with my Cavalier. (Oh by the way I have a 97 2.4 Auto) But I have a mild build that I would like to tune to get the best out of my car that I can. The questions I have are this, I'm wanting to get rid of my EGR Valve I understand you can do this with HPT is this true or not? I can't stand the CEL being on drives me up the wall, and with me having the auto I don't like my ETS being shut off since it is disabled when the CEL is on. I'm wanting to do a real nice tune with my setup to get the best I can out of the car. Will I need to get the pro version or can I use the standard version? I read the diffirences of the two on HPTs website, I guess I really don't see the big diffirence between the two versions. Could somebody clear that up for me so I can understand why there is nearly a $200 diffirence in the price tag. I'm also wanting to get rid of my B&M Shift Improver so is there a way I can um, I don't know how to put it, change the shift points or the shifting firmness so I shifts hard and fast like it does with the shift improver? If your all needing to know my current setup on the car here it is:

Secret Cams
HO Intake Manifold
56mm TB
Upper and Lower Motor Mounts
B&M Electronic Shift Improver
Pacesetter Header
Catco High Flow Cat
2.25" Cat-back
25" Dynomax Thrush Glasspack
Dynomax Super Turbo Muffler
Flotech Tip
Unorthodox Underdrive Pulley
AEM Power Pulley
WAI w/ K&N Filter

I'm thinking I have done enough to the car it deserves a nice tune.

yes I believe you can change all those goodies in your auto tranny.

EGR can be removed with HPT quite easily. Yes you can move your shift points, shift speed, shift firmness etc with the auto trans... the difference between the pro and the standard is the pro lets you have inputs... meaninig you can get a wideband 02 and plug it into HPT and tune using that input... without it you're quite blind, especially if you're new to tuning.

I would get the pro version, you will regret not doing it later... you can't tune a car to get the "most" out of it without knowing what the AFR's are.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info guys I'm going to go with the Pro version. Now I have one more quesition, first I'm wanting to install a carputer in my cav. For those of you who don't know what that is, it is a small PC that is attatched to a monitor that fits in the car. The way I'm hooking mine up is a 7" touch screen LCD monitor that folds out of the dash where the HU would normaly go. I'm wanting it just for OBDII software, would I be able to load HPT Pro onto the carputer and run HPT Pro from it and use all the goodies that come with the pro package? Like log and monitor everything and save the info in real time??

Yes, you can do that, however HPT does not recommend keeping the interface plugged in all the time (ie when the car is off). You would have to unplug both sides of the cable, from the car and the computer when you leave the car. I don't keep my cable in my car at all, wouldn't want somebody walking off with my $650 pocket sized tuner.
