Well i finally finished putting together my turbo kit. I am now ready to starting the car and the car turns on but does not turn over. I was told by a local mechanic shop that the car
has a security system built into the ECU. Is there any trueth to this? Is this something i can remove, disable or alter with or with out HPT? I have HPT and just obviously have
not gotten that far into being able to tune my car. The starter has power and so does everything else it just not want to turn over and it is a brand new starter. To add to my
frustration the car started right before i took her down to bolt on everything i got for the turbo kit i put together. Anybody have any ideas?
turn the key on and let it sit in the on position with the engine off for 10 minutes then turn it off and start it. passlock relearned!!

does it crank but not start or does it not even crank? (as in, does the starter actually turn the engine and it just doesnt light off, or does the starter not even come on?)

yeah, sounds like your starter is not connected.....
The pass-lock, or whatever the GM name for it will actually allow the car to start, then die a couple seconds later.
That is the security system that CAN be overwritten with HPT, but does NOT sound like your problem.
Check your connections at the starter 1st.
If the ignition switch recall was done, then there is a relay near the battery that runs the starter. Ground or power for that relay may have been missed and is now hanging unconnected.
The GM theft system DOES NOT control the starter. It should crank no matter what the security system does.

Well the car does not even crank. Like i said it turns on but thats as far as i get. I would say its not the starter because its been replaced last year and right before i started my assembly of the massive amount of parts i conjured up for the turbo build it started after sitting for a year with no problems at all.
So let me ask this. If i did a trunk mount battery set up and i put a test light on the starter and it shows that it has power would you still believe it to be the starter as the culprit?
I know i am probably asking the same question just worded differently i just do not want to waste money on yet another starter if it ain't going to fix the problem at hand.
I would get a volt meter on the starter terminals.....both, make sure you have battery voltage on the large post before you crank.
Make sure you have battery voltage on the small post while you crank,
and take a voltage measurement on the large post while cranking and measure voltage drop.
have you turned the engine over by hand??
Any clicks when you turn the key to start??
No i have not started it by hand. I was hitting the starter with a screw driver and it sounded like it wanted to start just didnt turn over. If i climbed in my Cavi right now and turned the key it would not even click.
take voltage measurements, and post them up.
your starter is not connected.
