Can you up the max rev limit with HPT and if so how... I was playin around with it this weekend and couldnt find it. I change shift light RPM but that didnt do anything lol. What is that for anyway?

you know the little light on the dashboard that lights up and tells you to shift when you're in gear too long? thats the shift light.. its in the upper right corner of the cluster.

the rev limiter is under fuel cut

Engine -> Fuel control -> Fuel cutoff

you can go to 8192rpm max, sad thing is you really cant tune it right beyond 7k

Will the valve train and whatnot hold up to 7000rpm? All my internals are balanced and whatnot.

it shouldl.. are you making power up there? look at your dynographs to see where you should be shifting at and set the limiter slightly higher.

you're gonna want to drop back into the peak torque part of the curve, so figure your shift point accordingly

Its still putting down power until 5000 so i figured 7000 so that i can drop back down into the 4500-5000 range when I shift

I wonder what an LN2 sounds like that high.

Get some clips of it?

Of course you are putting down power at 5000 RPM's if the motor runs it will. You should not need 7000 RPM's to drop in the 4500 range. Truly probably drops there on it's own. I know my 2.4 does with the 6400 limiter.

with the stock 95 LO tune now, it rips them loose in secound as soon as it gets to 4500...

(with 222/50/R16's) mounted on black GTZ rims

ITS HOT

but i need to learn how to mess with injector size and block learn mem.....

the 02, or the W41?

you should have heard it with the .450/232* intake, .430/232 cams... lol sounded mean as hell, but was SLOW

Nate, the problem with the motor holding up at thoase rpms is the valve train. The stock springs won't hold up, you'll get valve float and break all kinds of stuff, to includ the well built bottom end. Besides, the cam does't have the duration to make power that high.

.....

HOLD UP

Piston speed is a big factor, thus, your rods need to be able to hold this heavy weaght at the end of it.

what engin? 2.2?

89 mm bore and 88.00 mm stroke.....

3MM longer than a LG0, and 2 longer than a LSJ.

that said a LD9 stroke is 94MM... 6 MM shorter.

(thinking out loud there)

with the correct cam, i dont see why a LN2 cant rev to 7 safley, but i dont think the head flow's well enuf to suport it.

Nate's got a built bottom end (Eagle H-Beam Rods, Weisco Pistons, etc...) with a stock cam, a P&Ped head, stock diameter valves and stock valve springs. The bottom will hold the revs no problem, it's the valve train that will destroy the motor.

but why rev to rev, if it dosent make power?

^^^^ I doubt MadJack is arguing that point. I think he's just stating that Nate will physically destroy his valvetrain without upgrading to a stiffer spring(s). Like Skwirl said, Nate will have to look at his dyno graph and find where he will get the most TOTAL power under the power curve between gears. That will determine exactly where he needs to be shifting. Also, without custom gear ratios, that doesn't necessarilly mean shifting at the same rpm in each gear.

2200 stops making power at what.... 5500?

Re: MAX REV LIMIT CHANGE?

Actually, odds are, something will get hurt before 7000rpm. A stock 2200 peeks out at approximately 5200rpm. With the mods he's done it's still the same, but the power holds on a little longer after peek (and peek is higher). Making power any higher isn't the question right now, it's needing a cam that can let the motor rev that high and the springs to support the lift and rpms.

The stock rev limiter on the 2200 is at 6250rpm for a reason. It's not that the bottom end can't hold up, it's the springs aren't strong enough to support those rpms or the lift that typically comes with a cam with the duration need to make those rpms. Remember the stock springs only have a seat pressure of about 78lbs @ 1.60" and a spring rate of somewhere in the neighborhood of 228 lbs/inch (that works out to be 176.5lbs open pressure). This is not very conducive to high rpm operation with .432"+ lift or rpms over the 6250 rpm rev limit.

He can easily get a cam reground to the specs he needs. The problem lies in the need for springs to handle the cam specs (i.e. total lift, ramp rate and rpm) before the springs begin oscillating and valve float sets in.
