A moment of silence for the Dodge Neon...
Tuesday, September 27, 2005 5:32 PM
....the Dodge Neon is now out of production. To be replaced by the Caliber. Not to be confused with the specialty beer available at some stores. Well, I didnt think the Neon would stay in production this long.

Who was thanking God (either out loud or in your head) during the minute of silence?

If it's not network news, it's probably the truth getting out.

From what ive been reading on www.srtforums.com there will be an srt-4 just not right away. I believe 6 months after the normal version drops and srt-4 version will be made.

I guess Im the only one sad to see it go, however I understand it's time for change.

The SRT-4 neon is/was the best bang for the buck performance wise of any car, despite it's looks. Although I like the front of the srt-4 just not the rear.

yay
i have finally slayed the demon

the srt-4 was the best bang for buck
as long as you dont like any comforts of any sort

I'm sad to see the Neon go. I don't know why everyone hates it. For its price, it offers quite a lot. I had one and I was quite pleased with it. 132 hp and 130 lb/ft on a 2500 pound car is not bad.

Comparing my Neon to my 05 Sunfire (both of which are base models), the Neon had a few advantages such as: more comfortable and more supportive front seats, a better stock sound system with 6 speakers, and more features (for example multi-speed intermittent wipers, which my sunfire lacks). How can a car built in 2005 have only 3 wiper speeds?!?!

The Neon also had a few disadvantages compared to the Sunfire such as: it was slower, it didn't look as nice, no tach, a very rough 3 speed automatic transmission, and a few other things.

The only reason the Neon wasn't dropped like 5 years ago was the SRT-4. Its the only thing that kept the car afloat.

Don't forget the Trans -Am wasn't a Firebird, The Z-28 wasn't a Camaro, The GTO wasn't a LeMans, The Grand National wasn't a Regal, The Chevelle SS 454 wasn't a
Malibu. and on and on and on and on and on and on etc. etc.......
I'll miss the SRT-4 I'm not an ass but damn come on stop with the SRT-4 isn't a Neon crap !!

hold on hold on. the caliber is supposed to REPLACE the neon? if so, wouldn't it have to compete with all the sport compact cars? like stated above, it looks like it'd compete more with the hhr, pt cruiser, scion Xa/Xb...

GO PATS!!!
