Well, I am not in a very good mood right now, in fact I am pretty drunk, but that's another story.
Anyhow, my old truck (90 z71, short box step-side, 5.7L v8 w/400,000 kms)went in today to get a check up, brake job and oil change.
Lets just say the diagnosis was not good. The brakes are shot (I knew that), but also the gas lines are leaking, the brake lines are leaking, the strut mounts in the rear are rotted to the point where the box could fall on the frame at any time, the front end needs work, and that is just the most obvious of the problems.
Basically, I am at a cross roads here, do I fix up the vehicle that I have loved since my dad bought it 15 years ago? Or, do I take it up into my back field and burn it to the ground?
Any ideas? Is it worth it to fix it up? Or no?
Don't make fun please, I am being completely serious here.

wtf.. trucks don't have strut mounts, they especially don't have strut mounts that could make the box fall onto the frame, it's already sitting on the frame...
i'll buy it
I ain't callin u a gold digga,but you ain't messin wit a broke cracka
I'd fix it. If you don't want it maybe give it/sell it back to your dad?
I have an 85 toyota 4x4 that my dad bought new, my dad was going to junk it when I was 16 so I gave him the exact amount the junkyard would have. I can remember being picked up in kindergarten in that truck...it's totally redone now. I'll probably never get rid of it.
If the truck is sentimental, keep it. It would be a good truck to lift, especially if the suspension is already messed up. The truck is worth fixing IMO, but do you have the money/time/patience to do it. Maybe just park it if you can't do it right now....
well fix all the lines, throw a 6" suspension lift on it to take care of the suspension problems, throw a 3" body lift on it to take care of the body mount problems, and brakes dont cost that much, throw some 36's on it, and u got a bad a** truck
fixer up!
RobTco..do you have picks of the 85 toyota 4x4?
96 2.2 5speed

Thanks for the encouragement, it made me feel a lot better. Here is a pic of the old girl, just in case anyone was wondering what I am dealing with here.
By the way, it's the cross members (I think that is what they are called) holding the box up that are rotted out. NOT strut mounts.
GAM: If you really want a GTP, there is a 98 for sale not to far from me, with about 128,000kms on it, and the price is under $8,000.

Borsty: Sorry, but 4wd is the reason I have a truck, so taking it out is not an option.
Thanks for the suggestion anyhow.

Gutty: I've got no cash just yet... Too much ish to save for, I was pulling your leg
I'm trying to save for a G35 Sedan/G35x. I've got too much junk to pay for in the meantime (2 cruises, AC/Furnace replacement, House... ). I hate being a responsible adult sometimes.
If it's not network news, it's probably the truth getting out.
Some people are like slinkies: Not really good for anything,
but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them
down a flight of stairs.
Fix it up; lift it... Make it a beast!!!
