Honda CRX vs RCMP Cruiser
Sunday, September 18, 2005 12:47 AM
Haha, hey, I had an idea, and I was just wondering if my CRX in my profile could outrun a police cruiser. My friends and I keep joking about it and when I got my last speeding ticket on the highway I was tempted to tell him he would've never caught up if it were my CRX he were chasing (of course I kept my big mouth shut, I was in my camry, and he chased me for like 8 miles... I never saw his lights until i saw him come racing up behind me in a construction zone)

The reason I'm asking here is because I am NOT gonna test it

But honestly, i dont think police cruisers are all that fast... am I wrong?
(I'm talking about a standard crown victoria police cruiser)

The crownvic interceptors are pretty quick for big, heavy cars. They usually have the 4.6l 250hp engine, w/ 3.77 gears and a heavy duty suspension. I know, because I drive one everyday(cop). They get crappy gas mileage, but have some nice get up and go. So, It will catch up to a crx, maybe not a vette or viper. You cant out run the radio though or the chopper, lol. Kevin

W3rd.
You have almost the same power/weight ratio of a stock Z24. I am not seeing any logic here...

lol its a CRX... lightweight, keep that in mind

All I know is that my CRX can pull off 175 kph quarter mile with a good driver. If the mods in my profile dont add up to that, then there must be some stuff done that I cant see/dont know enough about cars to notice.

Lol, and kevin.... I dno... my CRX is pretty fast, I think I could outrun even your radio signals haha

But, like I said, I aint gonna try to outrun one, simply because I dont need criminal charges/massive tickets (similar to my $400 speeding ticket ) on my record.

you may outrun the crusier, you won't outrun the motorolla cb inside the car

your stock crx runs 108mph in the 1/4?

you're an idiot.

grow up. and when you di get caught are you going to outrun the extreme force they are going to use to arrest you? are you going to out run jail time? out run a huge fine? outrun loosing control of your car and crashing it?..maybe even dieing as a result? think about it.

YOU ARE A MORON <--worry about out running that first!

blurred, you're an idiot. My CRX is by no means stock. It doesn't even have its own engine.

And Black Cav, there's a reason I asked in HERE, because I'm not dumb enough to try it IRL, I got a friend who got a $440 ticket for doing 130kph down main street. I was caught going 162 kph on the highway because my electrical system in my camry is going, hence the $400 speeding ticket for me(my speedo jumps, my cruise control is f***ed, none of the interior lights work, the speakers are either blown or something, etc.)

So how am I a moron for asking in here, rather than trying it in real life? A few of my friends told me to race the cops up to the scene of an accident, I backed the car out, pretending I was going to, but then I pulled right back in because I'm not that dense.

Sappy, that was great, I had a good laugh from that comment

Calvin Di Bartolo you are the biggest dumb fu(k I've everr seen on this sight, none of wut you talk about makes any sence.

For someone who is almost 30 years old you act like a 5 year old and seem to know about as much abou7t cars as one too.

So I say to you, go die you big gay bastard, go and die in a dirty corner full of fags like you.

First off, I don't think you'll win against a Crown Vic or an Impala. They have a lot more room in the top/bottom end of their powerband. Also, the engines are low stress engines.. they don't have to spin up to 6-7000 RPM to make power, and they can stay in their powerband all day if they have to.

Second, it's been said before, police cruisers have Radios, you don't have anyway to jam or out run them... if they call in re-inforcements, you're toast eventually.

Third, you really oughtta think about confining your speeding activities to the track. If your corolla has problems with the electrical, it would be a wise idea to fix that before anything else.

Finally, posting like this invites people to call you out. Unless you're ready to pull out proof, you're probably going to get flamed. This is just common sense.

When you run from the police, they will catch you. And you will have to pay the running tax---which is not money. For future reference, dont be a moron and try to out run the police.

gotta pull into a parking garage at some sort of dead end...then have all your ricer friends pull out at the same time, confusing the police.....you'll get away that way

$400? that's it, hmm, my last speeding ticket, 162km/h in a 100km/h zone was $735, must be nice to only be $400, oh plus the $200 tow truck to take me home. Either way, I can't see a CRX getting a way from them, unless you have a lot of work done to the car.

Like a Cochrane-type warp drive?

First off, the guy sayin I'm a 30 year old gay bastard? No, I'm actually a 16 year old gay robot. (Seriously, I'm 16 though)

Second, Cop cruisers in calgary literally come up and ask you to race. I have no intention of trying to outrun a radio. Seeing as the cop asking YOU to race is entrapment, its perfectly fine to race 'em.

Third, yeah, I should stop speeding, but I cant help it. Speed is my anti-drug.

fourth... how is asking on here, rather than trying it in real life, being an idiot? If I wanted to, I'd do it, but I dont feel like getting more stuff added onto my record.

fifth, I dont care if people call me out, I'm always up for a race. like I said, speed is in my blood. If I cant go fast in a car, I'm not happy. Just wait till I get my CRX fixed, then I'll drive wherever the hell you guys want me to race. I'll do it. I dont care if I lose, like I said, I get my buzz from going fast.

and finally, thanks to the guys who answered politely and maturely. For those of you who say "you're an idiot for trying", read again the fourth paragraph in this post.

ummm, your engine produces between 108 and 125hp depending on which d16 you have.

that means about 100whp. you have an open filter... maybe 2 hp.
you have "racing" plugs and wires? those are maintenance items... not power items.
you have a high flow cat? why? you dont need one... and a muffler. still maybe 2 or 3 hp max for both.

that it!! your car is a slug. 110whp max. no way you run 108mph in the 1/4. its just physics.. i didnt invent it.

you want to do a buch of show junk to it with the subs and everything...
clearly you dont understand power to weight ratio, as you would need alot more power to compensate for the extra weight youre going to throw in there.

cleary i am not the idiot in this thread.

89 integra motor is 140 hp stock
Re: Honda CRX vs RCMP Cruiser
Monday, September 19, 2005 10:48 AM
oops, I'm sorry, 120 hp stock... my bad...
seriously though, get a life. whats in my profile is all I know about my car. It was like this when I got it, I never took it apart to see what was done. All I know is I do get 100 mph 1/4 miles with my driving, and with a good driver, ~110 mph (and the other guy who showed me it was that fast said it felt sluggish)

just because I dont know exactly what all went in it doesnt mean I lie. in case you hadnt noticed, I know when my CRX is beat. I've never seen a cop cruiser 1/4 mile time/speed, so I dont know, I dont even know my own CRX's 1/4 mile TIME, I do, however know my CRX pulls off 110 mph 1/4 miles, and I'm hoping I can find a way to convert VHS to mpeg so I can get some vids on my friends camera. you act like the CRX is slow, when, actually, its not. havent you seen all the CRX kills on this site? there was a few that lost but were still damn fast. A CRX with 200 hp wouldnt surprise me if it hit mid 11's. I havent touched the car's motor myself except for the belt, but I dont want to until i learn a bit more about cars.

So ask yourself, if I'm so full of myself and my CRX, why do I not say "I'd own a cruiser hands down"? Or I beat a mustang GT? or I walked all over a fighter jet with two flats and a dummy tire? or even it runs 125 mph 1/4 mile? I dont because I know my CRX isnt all that, but I know very well what its capable of. And if you actually look around, even 100 hp in a CRX makes it fairly quick (not fast, just quick). so, I suppose my CRX has got 130hp... wow... imagine what it'd do with 240?
Re: Honda CRX vs RCMP Cruiser
Monday, September 19, 2005 10:57 AM
ahh i didnt see the y8/y9. 137hp.

cleary now with 120whp you are running 108mph.

you really dont have a clue do you?

to run 108mph with your car you would need between 190-210whp.

youve got a little way to go. you'd be lucky to break into the low 15's... at no more than 90mph.
Re: Honda CRX vs RCMP Cruiser

Calvin, I've heard of some tracks that do a sort of "promotional" night where several officers show up with regular police cruisers to race the 1/4 against anyone who shows up. It's just a way to show their support behind legalized racing, and to help get it off the streets.

If a local track around you hasn't done anything like this...maybe it's time to make some calls and get it set up. As a spectator, it's usually great to watch.
