A guy in a '95 red monte carlo raced me in my Camry the other day, and naturally, I lost. I caught up to him after the race and told him we should race when my CRX is fixed. He told me he was getting a 5-speed mustang the day after the race. I'm assuming it's an '04 (to match the 'pakistangs') and it's definitely going to be a GT. My CRX is listed in my profile but a quick rundown for those who are simply too lazy to go into the profile:
84 Honda CRX with fibreglass body, and gutted interior.
1989 Acura Integra 1.6L Motor w/ K&N Cold air, full exhaust, racing plugs. 4" clearance and 15" rims (205/50r15 tires) (basics, there is alot more in the profile)
The CRX is a 5-spd standard. I'm wondering how well my car will stand up to both a stock '04 Mustang GT, and a stock '05 Mustang GT (5-speed as well).
Any responses will be good. My CRX hits 160kph with me driving, 170 with a good driver at the 1/4 mile if that helps any (any guesses on the HP my CRX is putting out would help too)
wouldnt 160 kph be about...... 90 mph or so...
eh..... might be close.

You'll lose.
Anybody who says you will win or it will be "close" is smoking heavy crack....
You'll lose.
I lost 4 carlengths to a 'pakistang' (those guys got money comin outta their @$$ here) it's packin 50-shot NOS at least is all I know of them. They never show much, smart move though, because if I knew what they had, I'd build up the CRX to exactly what I need to beat them for as cheap as possible (NOS, turbo, whatever). Noone knows how much they pack, because they beat my cavy by 5 carlengths, and that did 140kph 1/4 mile, the blue neon that I lost to by 1/2 carlength beat the pakistang (and the guy with the neon doesnt fool around, from what I've learned), the Grand am GT that I beat has beaten the stang, my cavy beat a prelude SE that beat the stang. So yeah... I have no idea what those guys are packing, but I'm hoping that they were goin all out against my CRX, cuz that would suck if they have yet to show the true power of it.
I know my CRX can beat the 5.0L mustang, but those were never very powerful.
My point is that everyone underestimates my CRX. I'd think it would be close, with the mustang probably coming out ahead in the end. If it were a cobra, shelby or boss, I wouldnt stand a chance.
i wouldnt race a stock CRX... lol
160kph is 100mph... it's gotten up to 110mph with a good driver..
And yeah, mike, I do get quite cocky in my CRX, but I do admit where I will lose. Seeing as I've never raced a stock 04 or 05 Mustang GT in my CRX, I dont know, and I've only ever driven a stock 05 mustang non-GT... handling sucked btw
his name isnt mike, its steve.

Ummmm... Your going to get killed. First off your should be running ether an H22a or LS/VTEC both needing to be well built before you even walk up to V-6 Mustang.

An 84 CRX with an 89 1.6L motor (no boost or N2O)??? And your saying you beat V8 Stangs... I bearly can pull on an 04 GT, if I pull at all. Comeon, CRX are light, but light and 200 HP is different than light with 98 HP. But, ah wahtever, have fun man. My guess is you'll lose, and if you don't I would need to see vids to believe it. Goodluck
I never siad I beat V8 stangs, I said I lost 5 cars, but noone knows the power of the one I raced. I said I dont know how fast a stock 04 or 05 stang GT is because I've never raced one nor seen it in action.
know whats funny? the people I live with have an old video cam that I never knew about. It records to full-size VHS tapes. Does anyone know how to convert them to mpeg videos without a capture card? (like... any businesses do it?)

5.0 stangs were v8s, so yes you said you could beat v8s.
Don't steal, the government doesn't like competition
ah, sorry. Didn't realize you were referring to the 5 Litres XD, my bad
Put a ZC head on it.... With a 55 shot & you would blow a GT away.
Vtec = Very Tall Engine Cooling
H O N D A, oh how well love it when we smokin V8s, all day, every day, it dont stop, Im rolling in my Honda like Im running from the cops.
BUT Now you know, cause you're Jon Doe, in a black bag, a tag on your toe, I built the Honda, I felt the pain, you're victimized with no one to blame, you're just another victim kid.....
man..i knew i shouldn't have bought this damn domestic.....gonna get me a tercel or somethin...
Domestics I've known more or less for raw power and torque, but horrible on gas milage. Imports I've come to know as light, economic cars with lots and lots of goodies.
I'm pretty sure a well built domestic would easily mop the floor with any import. stock for stock, I think domestics would own, but imports got so much for options that it makes it difficult to say. I loved my cavalier, but I love my CRX as well. Someone offered to buy it from me so I told him $8000 (it's actually worth $2,000... if that), and he's saving up now
Tercels are slow, the CRX was built for gas economy, making it extremely light. Put in a motor swap (I'm thinkin of goin with an S2000 motor, or one listed in the "fastest factory 4-banger" in the CRX, V8's are too heavy, and if a 4-banger can put out 300hp stock... man...)
But yes, I've beat Grand Am GT's (the one I raced was turbo'ed, if it's not from the factory), 5L mustangs, mopped the floor with a neon R/T, 2000 Acura Integra, SC Cavalier. Thinkin of startin to race for minor cash like $10ish.
horrible on gas mileage is subjective
21 mpg average isnt bad
a four banger can put out 300 stock but now w/o boosting
a v8 can put out over 500 hp stock w/o boost
neon rt = teh slow
2000 integra??? what trim??
s/c cavalier? what other mods. tranny?
5.0 stang stock? beat to @!#$?

Ummmmmmm, the SBC ALONE has a much larger aftermarket than the entire import market could EVER hope to have, and that's not including the Fords, Mopars, even the odd AMC or 3. ANd I don't care what ANYBODY says, there is NO replacement for displacement. Sure, you can boost a 4 cylinder motor to well over 1,000 HP, but the same mods can be done to a 6 or 8 cylinder motor, and the power results can grow almost exponentially.

Dude...it was a quote from the Street Racing Chronicles videos..
You see... your car is an extention of your penis...by buying a crx, you just cut your tip off...
Oh, and the koenigsegg's make 800 horse right out of the box....5L V8

Wow... now watch, give it a few days, maybe a couple weeks, and Jordan Kreuger will come along and start saying he's beat those...

yeah, but they are boosted
but there are 500+hp na v8s and once you get into boosting them, its over

Yep ohh what a purdy motor that is drool.
If you want to beat a 99-04 GT with your car you better only race the 1/8th mile and hope he spins out of the hole. Even a stock GT sould be able to pull low 14's on the street with a modest driver.
