You know the Eclips they made that was the same frame as the talon, the ones they made before the ugly 6-cylinders (1995 or so)? Anyone know how fast they are? For some reason I can outrun most of the non turbo ones in town, and theres a turbo talon I can "keep up with" running around town but he'd beat the crap out of me in a race (or at least I'de hope so). I thought about buying a turbo GSX for awhile, but there always getting beat. I used to beat the crap out of TSI's in my Tiburon. I mean I demoralized them without even trying. Do those cars just not hold up well or are the really not that fast?
I'm seriously thinking of turning my J-body into a dependable daily driver and buying another tibby so I can win races again, since they don't cost much now.
the 95-99 eclipse have 140hp...as the turbos have i believe 200hp...
the GSX is AWD, the GST is fwd...

You might have beat non-turbo Eclipses and Talons in your Tib, but I'm doubting you beat boosted ones.

Well, I never had a talon/eclips beat me in that car. I don't think I should have beat some of them either. Believe it or not I was usually the guy with the
look on his face because I though I was going to loose.
I know a guy I used to race a lot had a turbo on his Talon because I could hear the dang thing spooling, but he was an asshat, and really didn't know how to drive. Every eclips that tried to race me had ther rears handed to them, and I was just playing around most the time. They guys with faster cars probably just never raced me thinking I wasn't worth it. The Tibby had 150hp stock. The thing would lay rubber for a city block in second gear. I wasn't going to buy it thinking it was just a cheap slow Hyundai until I actually drove the thing. God I miss that car......Anyway, all I have to base Eclips, on is from races in cars I've drivin'. Just wondering if anyone own's one are has drivin one and can tell me how fast they are.

Non turbo eclipses ran close to 16.7 quatermile, real civic terrritory,
GST- runs a 15 flat
GSX runs a 15.3 with a much lower trap then the GST because of the awd, but powertrain loss makes it slow down alot in 3rd where the GST speeds up.

turbo dsms actually went like 14.8 stock very very often. the awd and fwd were very very close stock for stock. but when youy started to mod them, the awds start to own. these cars have so much potential, most of them are beat to hell with 300 boost leaksthough.
my buddy ran a 13.2 on fuel pump, 2.5 inch turbo back and free mods. i recently ran a 12.47 with whats in my reg. on my 91 talon. trap speeds suck in awd so we wont talk about those lol. trust me i have one of the fastest cars at the races in my town, and i lose most races that come rolling up on me on the street, just think about that.... (money, money, money)

non-turbo eclipses run very low 16's. My first gen 5-speed pulled a 16.2 completely stock. A guy in a 2nd gen auto n/t was hitting 16.3-16.5 consistantly.
Said it once i'll say it again. Its not how fast a turbo DSM is. Its how easy they are to make really fast.

Okay an ESi is the none turbo version that you may have beat but the stock TSi Or GS-T
ran 14 in the 1/4 stock. I have a 95 Talon TSi that runs a 10.8 in the 1/4 FULL interior. I'll race you for slips if you think that the Tiburon will hang with me.
