Well I set off yesterday morning to go test drive one of the G6 GTP coupes that was at the automall. Been interested in buying one, but I wanted to see if it was any faster then my friends 02' GP GTP.
When I got there I ended up meeting the kewlest sales guy ever. I wont say his name or what dealership he is from as that may threaten his job lol.. but lets just call him john doe. Anyways, the only one left was a blue automatic gtp. Looked over the car for a bit. Man the coupe is so slick in person. From the rear view it is very muscular looking. Anywho asked if I could get a test drive (was hoping he wouldn't come but he did). So me, the sales guy, and my 2 friends all hop in. Very comfortable, and my friends say the back seats were 2. Take it out around a few circles. Instantly get the feel for how much better this car is than the Grand Am right off the bat. You can feel how quickly the torque comes even when just mildly driving stop light to stoplight.. the car just wants to go. I ask him if he minds if i give it some gas. Sure he says.. so I give about %50... not bad. Then hes like cmon floor it I know a great place behind the automall. Anyways he directs me to a nice straight away. I punch it from a 15mph roll.. its got some get up and go but it doesnt feel as fast as the GP GTP, but when I look at the speedo, you are definately going alot faster then it feels you are. I assume its because im used to that 280ft/lbs.
On the way back, my buddy with the GP GTP tells the sales guy that he is interested in an 04 GTO and was wonderign if any had been traded in lately. The guy says no but we have 5 05's. I'm like can we drive one? He says no. My friends then asked if he could drive one for us. Sales guy thinks for a few minutes then was like well I havent driven one in a few days.
He instructs me dodge his GM so he deosnt get in trouble and go around the back where the GTO's are. He runs in real fast and gets the keys to a black one. Man oh man did I ever forget about that G6 fast lol. The ls2 just throws you back into your seat like nobody's business. While not being terribly faster than my srt-4 in the scheme of things... it just felt so much cooler. Now back to the sales guy. He was a complete and utter maniac on the rode. Flying by people on the streets near 50-60mph. We suggest he takes it on the highway. Well one onramp and 120mph later I was loving the GTO more and more, but also fearing for my life as "John Doe" decided he didn't have to follow lanes. I guess when you can overpower almost anything on the road you don't care lol. Well if things go my way at work... I might have to reconsider what my next car will be. A GTO would like nice in front of my house.

The hptuners 2.0 for the LS2 is out for tuner shops so it should be out for everyone soon
yeah the gm discount is continuing this month and my dealer told me that the GTOs wernt inluded

he posted the power specs , its a n/a 3.9l V6 with a auto or a 6spd , guess the autos hit the dealers first , cause a local dealer here got 2 autos in
i have been thinking about taknig a 6spd GTP out....but 27K is a tad bit out of the price range

I kept trying to justify the price of the G6 after getting out of the GTO. Though the dealer said that they alrdy offer a $1,000 rebat on the 06' G6... so maybe with some haggling you could get it for $25,500

how is the engine bay in the 04? crammed? i know in the 05 its pretty roomy
yeah see there is plenty of room.. . LOL.. actually yours is more open than mine. since they moved your coolant overflow and computer around. but even mine is not bad at all to work on.. pretty easy.
