WHAT IN GODS NAME IS THAT!!!
A BEAUTIFUL CAR RUINED!!!!
Damn I want to put wings on it and fly it !
As I look through the pics the car reminds me more and more of that Delorian from Back to the Future, hahaha.
It looks like that same driveway and house, that the guy was selling the thrust powered red Dakota.
Anyone remember that one?
YEah but does it have NAWS
Do I really need a signature?
It doesnt need NAWS, its thrust powered!
GOSH!!!
holy crap.
I like how he talks about how its not a big deal about getting rid of it.
Its hard to believe this is real.
How many steps to heaven, Doc?
...Ah, metaphysics.
Suddenly I got the urge to watch back to the future. I wonder if that is on DVD for cheap...
No wonder it isn't fast for a jet car. The engines are turboshaft designs for a helecopter. Meaning they were not designed for high thrust. If he hooked up an adequate trasmission system to them he would have 2 x 800 HP and could get much more speed out of it. It's either BS or just a really crappy design. Here's what GE has to say about the T58 turbine.
"The T58 turboshaft engine -- the engine that would power the United States' first jet helicopter, the engine that would power the Sikorsky Sea King helicopter that recovered the Apollo astronauts, and the engine that still powers Marine One, the helicopter of the U.S. president since the Kennedy administration -- was born in 1953 with the award of a $3 million contract from the U.S. Navy. Under the terms of the contract, GE was to develop the XT-58 "baby gas turbine" that the company had proposed as a powerplant for helicopters. The engine was to weigh 400 pounds and was to produce 800 shaft horsepower (shp)."

DAMN YOU HAHAHAHA!!! I was going to make a funny about that...
(It would have gone: when did the USN start hemorraging Sea Kings??)
It's a remarkably good photochop, nonetheless.

Sorry to spoil your joke GAM.. It's just that axial flow engines are my favourite. No recipricating mass.. It just makes more sense to me.

Tons of graphic artists are better than that at PS. Ever read National geographic? I bet you can't tell what's real from what's not. They do small things to make their photos more interesting, like there photo essay of the Titanic, it had tropical fish in the picture.. There are no tropical fish in the north atlantic, but it made for a nice layout. Ad materials are almost always chopped, etc etc etc.. It's everywhere.
On top of that, those are shaft turbines designed for helecopter use, not thrust turbines. They would produce very little thrust, and anyone using them would hook them up to a trasmission and extract the nearly 1600 HP available. Notice the speeds are low for a jet car? That's cause it's not a jet car.

Sweet Vids! I was thinking it looked real to begin with. Only other thing I can think of is that someone had the same car and tried to do a paintshop rep of it, by why go through the bother and then spend money posting on ebay?
I sent that ebay auction to my brother a few weeks ago because I thought he would think it was cool. Then today he sends me a Pix Message...
I guess his friend bought it! It is a local company

Well, all I can say is, those are the wrong turbines for the job.. He must have gotten them cheap.. On top of that, if he used a transmission, he'd have 1600HP on tap.. Seems pretty dumb to me.
