ok i am going to replace my cavalier i am going to look at a 1991 pontiac formula firebird with a 350...... all i know right now is the engine was rebuilt and has alot of work doene to it that was done 50k ago.... the tranny was just rebuilt......... and it needs the back bumper and the front bumper repainted over 100k

new altenator,water pump, fuel pump,tires
on modified body is in decent shape no rust i need to go look.... but he want 180 i may talk him down to 1500

I'd look at either a base Firebird/Camaro Berlinetta for 3rd gen F-bods, they're usually cheap as sin.
I had a project built around one of them, an LT4, 6spd tranny & rear end from a C5 vette.
Alas.. I had to go and buy a house.
What ever was I thinking?

Don't waste your time with a 305. Wait and look for the exact car you want. You'll be much happier with it in the long run.

Ive had enough 305s to know they are damn reliable, just most of them have zilch for power. But an engine swap in a 3rd Gen. F-Body is very possible in a day if you haul ass.

a good set of ported heads and a good cam and a 307 goes well and revs like a 327 with a good set of camel humps
