A few months back I bought a 1984 Camaro Z28 with T-tops for 400 bucks. Exterior looks good (needs paint and possibly a new passenger door) and interior needs new carpet/seats. Little did I know that my boss was willing to sponsor me. So for a while I talked to him on what I would like to do. But college and other bills are running me low on cash. A few days later I come in and he calls me back to the office. He tells me that he has a cousin that lives in Michigan and owns a speed shop near Detriot. I guess this cousin is willing to hook me up with a built crate engine, rebuilt tranny, and new gears. I have no idea what i'm getting. So its gonna be a surprise when it comes into the shop. What I originally planned was a Chevy 383 stroker mated to a Turbo 400 tranny. Excited to see what comes. Not a very great post but I had to tell someone.

lol...i knew you'd comment borsty...we'll probably be running close if i ever get the whole thing built.
I saw you were running the 700R4 tranny. I have some good reports about them. My buddy has an older vette engine with some other tranny and he said he wishes he coulda kept the 700R4.
As far as the engine being free....I work my ass off for him. I'm sure i've earned it
lol. Well i'll let you guys know what happens. I'm still waiting for a day that i can pull my old beat up 305 out of there. Everything's disconnected and ready to go i just haven't had a chance to get it out.
Maybe i'll post a few pictures here when I remember where i'm hosting the pics.

Some people have mixed feelings about the 700-R4.
Dyno Don (a local 3rd gen f-body repair shop around here) says they usually see 700R4's around 70k miles. Some people have ridden theirs to over 200k and had no problems.
The things that kill them is how hot these cars run, each 10 degrees higher you run the fluid per year, it subtracts about 7,000 miles off of the total life of it.
if i had a way too hook everyone up i would....i'll remember this when i take over the vice president's spot in a few years
