Ok. I have an 89 CRX with a JDM B16A swap with the following mods. Intake, Exhaust KYB AGX 5 way adjustable and Neuspeed racesprings. Walbro 255 Fuel pump and a VAFC-II on 15" 00 Si wheels.
Friend just bought an 05 Cobalt SS. Nice car, He got black with black leather interior. I was suprised at how GM redid the handleing. Maybe it was the fact that the SS came with Perelli P-Zero's but its a nice ride.
Anyway, long story short 1/4 wise I had him about 4 car lengths. My best E/T is 14.2@96
1.6 N/A >>>> 2.0 Supercharged..
I'm not a retard. I realze the potiential that lies within the cobalt. More boost blah blah..
Just thought I would let you guys know since these cars are just coming out..
Oh, and

Thats kind of funny. Motor Trend just tested it and it ran a 14.2 in the quarter mile. Tell your friend to learn how to drive.
Was he not racing?
Was there a cop around you didnt see and he did?
Did he mis-shift?
Bad launch?
Was he not beating on his car because it was brand new?
These NEED to be answered before ill beleive you beat him by 4 CARLENGTHS?!.
also did he see the light turn green? your honda may beet him but by that much?
i dont know.

Ok, let me clear this up a little..
We were on a private sicluded road.. No one around, and raced about 5 times. He pulls on me when I first go into 4th, but I start to pull back on him as I reach my peak HP in the RPM band

If your best time is a 14.2 @ 96 then your buddy obviously wasn't racing. Either he wasn't pushing it that hard, or its still in the break in period. There's no way you would take a well-driven SS S/C by 4 car lengths - they trap in the 1/4 mile at 98MPH, which is 2MPH faster than your best time.
Give it another go when your friend gets some experience with the car and after its broken in, the results should be much different

Being an SS owner I will respond with my experiences, and HONEST they always are. I would say an AVERAGE quarter for an SS would be around 14.5-14.7 Again that's an average. Most of the SS's on the road today (most) are not equiped with the LSD (mine included for now) and this greatly reduces consistant runs in my opinion, the stock clutch also has to go. The car has great power, and pulls hard and smooth, but without the proper driver and technique it is useless.
I have raced two rsx-s' and beat them both. I have raced to 94-97 GT mustangs and beat them. I have raced and SRT-4 and lost by a car length and a half stock for stock. (no stages on the srt-4).
I also raced a 92 civic hatch with a b16 swap, but im unsure of his other mods compared to yours. I beat him by around 2 car lengths.
I would say with the time you stated your car runs, even if your friend misdrives his non LSD (if it is one) SS, I don't believe you would have FOUR car lengths on him, second gear in the SS is a beast. I don't doubt you won, but by four car lenths that doesn't sound realistic.
Oh, and did you go a full quarter mile?
Hooray for the DrAStIk StUNnEr.....

how much does yoru crx weigh? my friend ran a 14.8@96.2 in his 92 cx hatch with just a cai and exhaust.
nm. just read your profile. 2000 lbs. didnt notice you had an lsd either. i can believe you beat it, or it was extremely close, but theres no way it was 4 cars unless your friend cant drive.
4 CRX lenghts.. He pulled at when I was in the begining of 4th like I said then as I started to hit around 7k I started to pull away again.

Professional race car driver on a track with everything possible to get the best time, average joe on the street...hmmmm.
Everyone says it all the time and everyone jumps down their throat for it, but because were talking about losing to a honda no one will say it. I will.

Good kill also 4 CRX car lengths is like 2 average car lengths.
Did you beat him by 4 "CRX" car lengths.. Cause that's like 2 normal car lengths...
^^^
lol
but seriously
you had to change your motor to be another car stock
sad really
Whats the redline on your motor...?
I mean, how much more can you pull away after 7k?

I think they go to about 9K. my lude goes to 8k and my friends delsol went to 8500 stock.
"Custom cars, custom problems."-me
yeah hondas dont really start making power till after 5k. average redline on a honda vtec engine is 7000-8500
its funny, I thought the same as everyone else, 4 CRX lengths is like what...12 feet? lol
I could definately see you winning, but not by 4 car lengths providing both cars were driven properly....I think you beat your friend...switch drivers and see who wins
I'm not sayin the SS should win, but it should have been closer....IMO the honda should still edge out the win

EXACTLY!!! you guys are all idiots, 4 car lengths doesnt equate to a whole lot of time, i have yet to see a coblat break into the 14's. this guy ran a 14.2 (the same time as the fastest stock cobalt, under the best conditions) grow up.
and mongoose shut the hell up. the really funy thing is i beat an 05 gto on friday night, it was stock, but i also took him by over 2 cars. pretty sad when you cant beat me with twice the cynliders and more than twice the displacement, so shut the @!#$ up.
kyle general rule of thumb is every car length is equel to a second (give or take) so that would mean the ss blew like an 18 sec quarter mile time? not unless he missed a shift or just cant drive to save his life. i'm not saying a honda cant take a cobalt ss but
the mods he has it shouldnt have been by that much.
and congrats on the gto i would have loved to have seen the guys face he must have felt stupid.

Kyle- Your DSM must haul @ss!!! 2005 GTO's run 13 second FLAT quarter miles stock. If you won by two car lengths your car should be in the twelves. Very nice indeed.
I've seen many ss' run in the 14's but the average is a HIGH 14- low 15 on STOCK settups. It's so easy to reflash the ss for 265-270 hp that low 14's high 13's are EASILY achievable.
It's not what you drive, but rather how you build it, but even with a built car with the wrong driver it is useless. Just my .02
