299 indicated, but bike speedos are always out, so he likely hit something like 280 or 285.. Still very fast, but he never hit the claimed 300.

Tires. Sportbikes with brand new tires are accurate until they take their first high speed run. Sportbikes at highspeed actually are spinning a bit. You have a contact patch about the size of a credit card. The drag coefficient is about the same as a mini-van (minus the Busa). The wheel is usually going faster than the bike.
Not only is it inheritly inaccurate, treadwear has a far greater impact than it does on a car. There are also a variety of different tire profiles. IE the outside diameter will vary from tire model to model. Two different 180/55R17(s) will have different outside diameters. SOme are tall for faster turn-in, and others are more rounded or even flatish for longer wear and more stability at speed.

hes right, ive had the speedo on my r6 up to 171 mph, but the magazines ive read claim 153mph for my year tested by radar. and thats with the stock tire. so they are def off some.

yeah mines been off when you go by the radar things the cops put out i had the bike up to 100mph and the radar thing said 92 the faster you go the farther off it is..

Bike speedos are usually out about 5%-10%. More if the spockets have been changed (common mod for more bottom end with the stunt crowd).
It gives me comfort.. I know that when I hit 265km/h I'm really only going about 240, so everything's fine

Do you have any idea how easy that is to do on a bike with the required power to actually hit those speeds? Do we even know if he has stock gearing? He might have been going substantially slower than that. To me, it looked like he barely got over 200. I have been to 305 (indicated) on a bike (track) and it looks faster to me than what was in that video.
