any help is greatly appreciated on this one!
The brakes on Mom's Dodge Caravan were locking up the other day, but only the rear passanger side would do it. So I decided I would take a crack at what was going on, and attempted to take the rear drum off. NO GO... it would not come off at all, even though I could spin the drum assembly, as if it were going down the road.
So, after giving in, and carefully driving it up the road to a local repair shop, they tell us that the "backup plate" was bent, and that they bent it back, at no charge.
I was not there to watch them, and mom just dropped the van off and walked to work, so I don't have any clue what they are talking about.
first, Mom and I are trying to figure out what they mean by "backup plate", and 2nd, the brakes still seem to drag all the time, what might be the issue? (We haven't been able to go a long distance to find out if the wheel locks up again)

the backing plate is the part that holds all the brake parts to the axle
if your looking at the drum , then look under the car the piece that is on the other side of the drum is the backing plate
hmm...any idea's on what would bend that to the point of locking up the brakes?

replace wheel cylinder

Both Wheel cylinders in the back were just replaced... along with new drums, disks, pads, and shoes. And it was all done by the same shop that is saying that the backup plate was bent.
