Here are a couple of Record Breaking Diesel powered vehicles.
The first is the Lucas Oil/Cummins Diesel Dragster. Powered by the same 24V Cummins Turbo Diesel used in the Dodge Ram, it has been modified to use the P7100 mechanical fuel pump found in the 12V Cummins instead of the Electronic Pump used by the 24V Engine. The engine is twin turbocharged and puts out 80 PSI of boost, and uses Nitrous and water injection to cool the intake charge since there is no intercooler, and produces nearly 950 hp. The engine is mated to a 47RE 4-speed automatic transmission that was also used on the Dodge Ram, it is a custom built tranny built by ATS. The dragster was the first diesel powered vehicle in the 7s running a 7.98 @ 167.43 mph
The next one is the Dr. Performance Diesel Drag Truck. Also using a 24V Cummins Turbo Diesel. Also twin turbocharged and non-intercooled, producing 100+ psi of boost, using four nitrous systems produced by NX, one of which along with water injection cools the 400 degree F intake air. The engine redlines at 6,500 RPM and produces an estimated 1,100+ hp. This is the first Diesel Truck in the 8s with a best run of 8.72 @ 154.44 mph.

But, yeah.. Diesel is the new old way to go for power

i would love to get my hands on a truck with a 24V Cummins Turbo Diesel. they are so easy to get power out of.
On an unrelated note, anyone watch "trucks" on spike TV today. They showed how to make diesel fuel from used french fry grease. Some pretty cool stuff.

The 12V Cummins is just as easy to get power out of, and you can port the heads to insane sizes, there really isn't much room to port the heads with the 24V engine, plus the P7100 Injection Pump is infinite times more reliable then the 2nd Gen. Electronic Fuel Pumps used from 1998.5 to 2004.5. But either way once my Durango is payed off, I'll be buying a brand new CTD Ram Mega Cab or Quad Cab, unless Chevy puts a Cat Diesel into thier trucks, in the next 4 years.
Bio-Diesel is definitely the fuel of the future, it's cleaner burning, better cooling, better lubricating, and even more powerful due to the higher Cetane rating. I can't wait until there are Bio-Diesel Stations all over the country. If I have the room after I get my truck I may even make my own to use in my truck.
